“I realized that, through clever and constant application of propaganda, our people have been made to see hell as paradise," - Former Deputy Gov Pedro. ‘‘Today, Lagos has become a sad and sorry tale of two stories. On one hand, I see people driving on pothole-infested roads and sleeping in flooded homes. I see children starved of adequate educational facilities and sick people denied basic healthcare facilities. I see neighbors continuously subjected to exorbitant rent and jobless street miscreants. I see poorly paid teachers, doctors going on indefinite strike and market women forced to pay excessive stall rates. “Astonishingly, on the other hand, I see a government that claims it generates about N18 billion a month from taxes, levies and surcharges, yet it is so disconnected from the plight of Lagosians, that it is more concerned about lavishing praises on itself than it is on improving the welfare of its citizens. Are we actually better off than we were four years ago? It is a tragedy and a big slight on my generation that this level of mediocrity is currently being celebrated meritoriously, but it is a bigger slight on us, the people, when our expectations are driven by such minimum standards.’’ It was at the height of the school fees crisis in Lagos recently when Fashola displayed such crass insensitivity to the circumstances of his own education and ultimately his rise to power and ignored pleas to review downward the astronomical school fees he had imposed on LASU Students. While students staged a sit-out in front of his office, Fashola was unmoved. It is important here to note that Fashola was unmoved by the plight of the students because he has become disconnected from the realities of our people. He didn’t feel the pain of the students. But why should he? The irony here is that his children will never have to carry placards demonstrating against high fees. At least they haven’t had the reason to sit-it-out at the UK Prime Minister’s doorstep or picket the office of the Mayor of London to get school fees reviewed. Fashola used a whopping N27 to N29 billion to build a one and a half kilometre stretch of bridge from Lekki to Ikoyi on a shallow corner of the lagoon. With that sum of money, the bridge is easily one of the most expensive kilometre-stretch of construction work on planet earth. It is even touted as a cable bridge, but it is not except for those who believe that orange and apple have no difference. Fashola at some point will have to explain how he used N2 billion to build the Falomo ramp that is just few yards in length. Fashola will have to explain to the tax payers of Lagos, the rationale and economics of buying back the Lekki Road from the concessionaire, LCC. If all these are not breaking a bank’s vault in the middle of the night without compromising the locks, someone will have to tell me what it is. Private schools are springing up daily in Lagos due to inadequate schooling structures in Lagos. $3 billion per year as income to Lagos yet no new schools, no new hospitals, commercialised public infrastructures, commercialised waste disposals, burnt low income markets rebuilt for elitist owners only. Fashola abhor the mere mention of the FOI bill. Infact he even went to court to stress that the FOI bill has nothing to do with his administration since it is not binding. So much for a transparent progrethieve. Fashola & his oga Tinubu are the most clever crooks in the history of this country. Sometimes I think I'm mad. Perhaps I am if insanity is now seen as sanity and the order of the day. I have never, not for once, celebrated or praised Fashola's administration. No apologies, but most Nigerians are gullible. Can anyone ask the sincere question what Fashola's administration, or Tinubu's, has done in the last 15 years? Planting of flowers around town? Where? Ajegunle? For what purpose? How does that add to the quality of life? Isn't that a tiny fraction of the Ministry of Environment's responsibilities? How many roads have been fixed in Lagos? Where are the street lights? They brought in some poor quality China-made solar lights that ceased working just the next week after installation in a few parts around Ikeja axis. The drainage system is still poor! N18 billion per month is just the publicly declared figure! You'll be shocked to know how much is being siphoned away to foreign accounts before official declaration is done. You think the APC goons care about you? Who are you, poor Lagosian? You think because Fashola has the aura of a technocrat or just because he's a trained lawyer would make him a responsible leader? Do you know why the term 'Wolves in sheep's clothing' exist? You can't recognize them? Many of those praising Fashola or venerating APC in Lagos would probably be dead in their graves before realizing they've been robbed blind by those whom they ascribe excellency status to. What's excellent about people that are meant to 'serve' you? You, the tax-payer? You pay them to carry out functions for you just because it's impossible for every man to be in government. They turn around and act like gods, and you clap hands for them that they've done well. He's a working governor, you say. Lagos is working, Fashola is working, you say. Indeed. You are myopic. Sorry; you are totally blind. Blame it on ignorance and a mediocre brain. Fashola is working for himself, his wife, his children, his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and Emperor Bola Tinubu's clan. People have brains but have refused to use it! I am in no support of any party be it PDP or APC, but let's have a change even if for the sake of change. These rogues in power are confident that they can't be booted out of office because they know the power lies with them until the people prove them wrong. If the next person comes to power and acts like a fool, give him the boot after four years. The next slowpoke after that would probably sit up. 8 Likes |

You TANoids should shut up abeg. Leave d man alone. One fact for sure is dat he's leaving lagos in a far far better state dan he met it. Wat have your pdp govs done in their various states? Abia is an eyesore. Nothing remarkable in kebbi, plateau etc. I dont even need to mention adamawa. Two governors are running dat state. Bayelsa is a ghost state. Nothing is working there. Imagine spendin one year in an office hoping for some work to do only to end up playin game on my laptop everyday. D only thing you ppl can boast of is a stadium which d pitch couldn't even stand 45mins before changin colour. Rivers state sports complex is even cheaper dan dat stadium.....Summary?
