Abuja - The Independent National Electoral Commission has forbidden it's plan to create an additional 30,000 Polling Units as the proposal triggered controversy, PremiumTimes reported. The decision by INEC to create the 21,000 units in the south and 8,000 in the north was based on the number of registered voters. Also read: INEC to extend issuance of PVC in Lagos INEC Chairman, Attahiru Jega has been criticized over the ratio in the geopolitical zones, some leaders have called for him to resign. The commission has decided to discontinue the plan until after the polls next year, however the electoral body has vowed it will continue with the Voter Points where necessary to ease pressure in the coming elections. It must be suspended for now. The timing for such project looks more of a fraud than genuine. Who is sure voting will take place in some part of the area in view? We are in a free zone now, yet to pick our PVC is problematic, what is going to happen when actual voting comes proper? |

Jega has done so well sanitizing INEC and should not have even brought up this issue of 30,000 polling units in the first place. Any way, good that he sees reasons to suspend the move |
