PRESIDENCY ALERTS ON FAKE TWEET MAKING THE ROUNDS

A message on a fake Twitter handle purportedly belonging to President Muhammadu Buhari is in circulation. The spurious message seeks to justify attacks by herdsmen, saying they were only defending themselves.

Evil doers and enemies of our country are obviously at work, seeking ways to further advance their pernicious acts. The message is denounced in its entirety, and President Buhari stands by his earlier condemnation of the killings in Benue and other parts of the country as dastardly and unacceptable before God and man. Those behind the concocted message are also enemies of God and man, who have no place in a decent society.

The President stands by his earlier directives that all those behind wanton killings in any part of the country must be brought to book.

The Islamic Movement in Nigeria, IMN, also known as Shittes, has reacted to the rumoured death of its leader, Sheikh El-Zakzaky.

IMN said the malicious information was meant to break its will and cause confusion, thereby allowing miscreants to seize the opportunity to turn their peaceful protests into violence.

This was part of a statement by Shittes’ spokesman, Ibrahim Musa, in Kaduna on Friday.

“Credible reports have confirmed that hoodlums have been commissioned by the authorities to foment trouble by burning tyres and properties in the course of our peaceful processions.

“Part of their evil plot involved spreading false news of the alleged death of our leader, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky due to illness on a fake Facebook page.

According to the Court, Obiora Okonkwo misled the court in obtaining the Consent Judgment

INEC's application to set aside the Consent Judgment was found to be meritorious and granted as prayed.

The substantive suit was adjourned indefinitely.

Aisha Yesufu, the co-convener of Bring Back Our Girls has blasted President Muhammadu Buhari for not attending the mass burial of Benue victims massacred by Fulani herdsmen, Herdsmen attacks


Buhari was absent at the mass burial of 73 people killed by Fulani herdsmen in Logo and Guma LGAs of the state.

The BBOG convener described Buhari’s absence as heartless and insensitive to the plight of Nigerians.

This was in reaction to a tweet by the presidency official twitter account congratulating the winner of his 2017 Season’s Greetings Card.

Buhari on his page wrote “Let me specially thank @Michael_CXT, whose submission inspired the final design of my 2017 Season’s Greetings Card. He won the open competition @NGRPresident organized to design the Card. I congratulate him, and wish him the best in his future endeavour.”

Aisha in reply described Buhari’s post as inconsiderate on a day when Nigerians were mourning death of their loved ones.

She wrote “This was tweeted 3 hours ago on the day that 73 Nigerians from Benue State killed by herdsmen terrorists were given mass burial. How insensitive & heartless!

“If President Muhammadu Buhari was to visit that same Benue today, he would be welcomed by smiling crowd of docile citizens.”

The senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has called on Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai to leave teachers and run after herdsmen who are terrorising the state.

Mr. Sani in a statement released on Thursday berated President Muhammadu Buhari for supporting El-rufai’s plan to sack teachers in the state, describing his support for the sack as ‘tyranny’ and ‘facism’ against the workers.

The lawmaker further condemned the Kaduna government over its decision to ban peaceful protest of the workers but yet find it hard to clampdown on herdsmen and kidnappers in the state.

“President Buhari’s misinformed support for Elrufai’s sack of Kaduna teachers after an illegal and premeditated sack of Kaduna Teachers emboldened tyranny, aided fascism and abetted arbitrariness of the governor against workers in the state,” he said.

“I wholeheartedly support the rights of Kaduna State teachers and workers to embark on strike and hold peaceful rallies and procession.

“The state government has no constitutional rights to ban peaceful protest or intimidate or blackmail workers using the police.

“Sponsored pro-government protest has been organised on many occasions by the state government and its agents. Why should workers be denied the rights to protest?”

“Mr El-rufai should order the police to go after Herdsmen and Kidnappers that had made Kaduna State their national headquarters and not after unionists, activists, journalists and perceived critics of his administration. Mr El-rufai, if you are really brave and courageous, go after herdsmen and kidnappers and not workers and teachers,” he said

Move over Bill Gates. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has now been confirmed  the world’s richest man, not just at present, but of all time.

Both Bloomberg and Forbes have put Bezos on top of their billionaire lists. Bloomberg said Bezos’ net worth reached 106 billion U.S. dollars while Forbes put it at 105 billion as of Wednesday.

The previous record was held by Microsoft founder Bill Gates with 100 billion in 1999.


The majority of Bezos’ net worth comes from the 78.9 million shares of Amazon stock he owns. Shares of Amazon (AMZN) climbed nearly 57 percent in 2017.

The Seattle-based corporation managed to make up 89 percent of online spending among major retailers in the five-week period beginning on Thanksgiving, according to an analysis of transaction data by Earnest Research in New York.

Bill Gates now still sits on the No. 2 post on both of the fortune lists with roughly 92 billion dollars. Some argue that if not for his significant charitable contributions, Gates would still be worth far more than Bezos.

According to Bloomberg, Gates has given away almost 700 million Microsoft shares, worth 61.8 billion dollars at today’s value, as well as 2.9 billion of cash since 1996.

Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), has stated that there would be no shift in the date fixed for sale of 9mobile.

It insisted that the transaction and hand over to its new owner must be concluded on January 16.

NCC Executive Commissioner, Stakeholders Management, said this in a chat with Thisday.

Barclays Africa, the financial adviser handling the sale of 9mobile, had the initial mandate of December 31, 2017 to conclude the sale of 9mobile.

However, the company, citing reasons, wrote to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the NCC, asking for extension of date from December 31, 2017, to (approved) January 16, 2018.
