This is Ramalot (the OP) I will continue answering questions with the ramalot account, when the mods remove the Travel section posting restriction placed by Mod Bot. It happened because a response included a Google Maps link. |
zoedew:This is Ramalot (the OP). This account is meant for a different business activity. I haven't responded to questions here in some hours, because in responding to this comment, I included a Google Maps link which the Nairaland bot didn't like. So it restricted the ramalot account from posting in the Travel section, until tomorrow. Justwise and DisGuy, kindly remove the restriction on my account https://www.nairaland.com/ramalot ------------ To your question, I lost the longer response I typed before, and can't justify retyping it, as it's not worth the time and effort. However, that previously typed response provided a Street View link to the exact spot I snapped that pic in Bogota. Just so you can look around on Google Street View yourself. I don't feel the need to prove anything to anyone on the internet. However, since I love Google Street View and your comment is not completely out of line, and actually makes sense, I'll indulge you a bit. And I'll consider your comment a compliment to my photography and media production skills ![]() If anyone is wondering, these pics below were taken with a Samsung S10e, in 0.5x wide-view mode. Attached Pics: 1. I went to the same place in Google Street View, where I snapped the originally posted pic and tried to recreate the shot. It's very close, which gives credibility to your suspicion, but obviously not the same, or from that source. Except you believe Google made a special edition, just for me to post on Nairaland . It's in front of the Museo Nacional subway entrance, in Bogota. We lived on this street for about 2 months. Feel free to find this subway in Street View and look around. 2. The original pic you're questioning. 3. Just for the hell of it, here's another pic I took from the same spot. This one only looks slightly to the right side, across the street. Feel free to do the same in Street View and you'll see that. 4. Another shot from the Rio de Janeiro pic in that same post. This time from the front of the double-barreled cannon you see in the first one. It's an old military forte in Copacabana. We lived in Copacabana for about 10 months. I don't mind healthy skepticism, as long as the person is polite, and not being a jerk about it. |

Does anyone know how to get a hold of the main mods? Lalasticlala and Mynd44. I have attempted reaching out to them with the "mail supermods" message system, but I imagine they are loaded with messages they can't cope with. |
adamix:Thanks. 1m seems higher than other's experiences. I don't know what the limits of a hand pump would be, other than the obvious inconvenience of pumping it. |
kelvin1191:Great, thanks. |
dhope:Yeah, machine drilled will always be the better option, except in cases where it isn't accessible. |
kelvin1191:Thanks, it appears the price differences are significant across the country. Since these projects will be in rural areas, electricity might be a major challenge, making a hand pump more practical. Is it possible to have a hybrid of manual and electric? So in the absence of power, they can hand pump it.

Nikkganc08 Sorry for the delayed response. I appreciate the detailed breakdown of your expenses. It is very helpful. |
Nikkganc08 I see, that was definitely manual, from the videos I've seen. How much was it after everything was done and installed? The grand total expenditure. |
Nikkganc08:Thanks for the info. Was the actual digging done manually or machine? How much did it cost for the entire thing to be fully functional and ready for use? |
Commendable:Understood, thanks |
Jubal01:Thanks for your suggestion, but the nominations I mentioned is not intended for this thread. It will be posted later this month As of now, the plan is for 3 categories to benefit 3 different nominated communities: - Water supply (this borehole) - Education (a small computer center or basic renovations to a dilapidated public school) - Healthcare (a few hospital beds and basic supplies) So feel free to keep an eye on that account from mid-June and on. You might also see the thread on the homepage of Nairaland. |
Raregem9000:Got it. Since there are many communities that could benefit from it, ideally, we will narrow down to a community with a shorter aquifer depth. To keep the cost low. |
brodalikeme:No, nothing has been done. In a nutshell, it's a very small social project fund to provide water to 1 community in dire need of a clean water source. The community hasn't been determined. We're aiming for something that will serve at least 500+ people. We might have people on Nairaland nominate such communities and vote on one. This is something we will engage this month. Certainly not Abeokuta, if I'm to go by the Raregem9000 quote up there. So at this point, I'm getting basic insight on the expected cost. The total budget is only about N400k. Another consideration to help 2 communities instead of 1 would be a manual approach, though I have doubts it can be done at 200k each. What are your thoughts? |
Great, thanks! |
Raregem9000:What city or state was this? |
turawaa:Haha, good to know. Thanks |
blackboy:Thanks for the info |
brodalikeme:Thanks for the info. All said and done, what was the total direct and related costs for it? Ballpark figure is fine |
I understand Lagos, Abuja and PH cost more, but what about more rural communities? My google searches show prices between N100k - N1m, on average. If anyone has engaged the drilling of one recently, what are the prices looking like? I also understand a manual and machine drilled hole cost different. So another is, what are the disadvantages of a manual one? If you're wondering why I'm not asking about a specific location, it's because it's a social project and the locations haven't been chosen. Thanks! |

I asked this question in the properties section yesterday. Looking around that section, it appears it's mostly realtors reposting their threads 1000 times. So I'll try here. I have a building in Abuja, with six 3-bedroom units. It is currently managed by one of the big management companies. However, I am weighing my options. Specifically, I am looking for a management company which offers fixed monthly spread payments. If I hand over the property to them, fully occupied, and the annual rent of each unit is N1m, that's N6m. I want an arrangement where the remittances are made monthly by the managing company - for an additional cut. So if the standard management cut is 10%, we can agree to make it 15% - paid out monthly and consistently by the company. In this example, that would be a total payment of N5.1m (after fees) spread out over 12 months. That's 425k/month. Is there any management company anyone can recommend for this, in Abuja? Thanks. |

glowithdan:These are regular rentals. What's needed is a short let. 2 weeks to 1 month. |
