come to think of it ,we are only talking and saying rest in peace to this officer ,what about the others in his group who aren't officers.the story said that this officer and all his group ,maybe they were like 50 or 100 soldiers ,all of them killed just like that

The least we can do is support our gallant soldiers, it appears they are irrelevant now with all the rubbish spewed by the bokoharam apologists, withdraw them for2 weeks and see if Bokoboys will not over run all of us.
We have tried blame game for long. Is it not time we unite against terror.

For your information, the allied forces made up of U.S, France, UK and 5 arab nations are fighting the senior brother of Bokoharam- Isis with the best weapons in the world. Isis is still takin new territories and advancing, slow pokes here blame GEJ. Why hast America not conquered Isis after 2months. If its that easy.....If you can stop Bokoharam, stand up and apply to Nigerian army, they now recruit every day . Seat at the comfort of your computer and throw blames. Talk is very cheap. Rubbish...rest well our hero.
ISIL is not in the US, UK or France. If they were there which is impossible they will jot last 2 days, but the fact is they can't even get there to begin with. Doesn't mean they have not tried to enter these countries, but these countries have not allowed them!
I know people who dream of joining the army because of the passion they have for it but never made it even after trying over and over! Same time I have seen spoilt brats handed spot.

Plum! Since it was an ambush, I'm sure none of them escaped. Now, how many were they in his group? Because nothing is said about others. Guess that's the way our Naija works. The rest were not important.

Intelligence gathering/ reconnaissance mission before their to Chibok is more relevant here. But then you need support from the locals.
Do our soldiers have that

While it is easy to blame the Government for the dearth of the Military, it will also be wise to look at this holistically.
Joining the Military through the NDA and SSC over ther years have been a thing of Man-know-man and not on the basis of passion, intelligence, ruggedity and patriotism. Most of our Officers were brought into the military on a platter of Gold, while the committed and passionate ones were/are shut out because they don't have "Oga at the top". The resultant effect is a "fine" boy and ajebutter army that are only but a glorified Man O'War, whose militarisation is only deployed to intimidate civilians and prosecute election, but are being ridiculed by a rag-tag group. The same rag tag BH that succumb to the ill equipped but patriotic civilian JTF are the people ambushing and killing our military in their numbers. What a shame!
As a country, we need to go back to the drawing board and review the hiring policy of the Military otherwise, the nation may go into a state of complete comatose(God forbid).

All soldiers right from history have always been recruited based on who you know

lets not pretend there was a time it was based on merit before it became nepotic

it has always been nepotic

you are right! This nepotism became worse during President Obasanjo era. Before then, the Military "beg" people to join its service but since the return of democracy it has moved from bad to worse. President Obasanjo, President Yar Adua and President Jonathan should share the blame on the basis of 30%, 30% and 40% respectively. Reason is it has become worse under this government. Like I said, we need holistic review of our hiring process in all the security agencies and military. Same goes to the State's Civil Service

That's the problem bro. Nigerian Army will just announce their recruitment and collect 2.5k from jobless graduates and before you know it they will just bring out 40 names and that will be the people to be interviewed.
Those who have passion for the job are not given the opportunity.

what happens to basic military training 90percent of our troops death due to ambush must they advance on roads and during the day Rip you died so that i can work free

Bros follow me ask them again oo? What happened to reconnaisance, detours, decoys and feinting on routes? These are basic infantry tactics. Everyday my people walk into ambushes. Who is leading them and who actually trained them? Its a pity for the dead and the bereaved.

Is it the absence of right equipment that led to the ambush or the saboteurs that gave out information on their movement?
