APC Blames Jonathan’s Re-election Bid For Rising Insurgency. by PhockPhockMan: 3:13am On Nov 20, 2014
Opposition All Progressives Congress on Wednesday blamed an alleged desperation of President Goodluck Jonathan to return in 2015 for the escalation of insurgency and the loss of parts of the nation’s territory to Boko Haram.

National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Oyegun, said this while addressing party faithful at a rally in Abuja on Wednesday.

Oyegun said the party organised the rally, which it tagged “salvation rally” to demonstrate its lack of confidence in the ability of the President to organise a free and fair election come February 2015.

Oyegun said, “President Goodluck Jonathan is so desperate to win re-election that it will now appear that there is a secret understanding that our security forces should turn a blind eye to the Boko Haram insurgency, so that the insurgents can occupy as much territory as possible and make elections impossible in these areas, knowing full well these are APC strongholds.

“Otherwise, how does one explain that local hunters carrying Dane guns and amulets are capable of dislodging the dreaded Boko Haram while our once proud army, which has distinguished itself in and out of the country, has failed?”

He described as idle talk calls for the President to declare total war on Boko Haram. The party chairman asked what the administration had been doing since it first declared a state of emergency in the states affected by the Boko Haram insurgency.

“Or is the President saying that he declared and renewed the state of emergency several times only to cage the civil populace so that the insurgents can have a free rein?” he queried.

The APC chair said the war against the insurgents had become a tool for self enrichment and a tool to disenfranchise Nigerians, who are perceived not likely to vote for President Jonathan’s re-election.

He said everything pointed to the fact that the President’s handling of the Book Haram insurgency was aimed at disenfranchising persons perceived not to be in support of his re-election, especially in the north-eastern part of the country.

He added that the APC had it on good authority that as soon as the President receives the support of the National Assembly, there would be no elections in the states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe.

If the APC allegation is true, about five million Nigerians will be disenfranchised, hence the fear by the opposition that the re-election of Jonathan has become inevitable.

Oyegun also warned the Jonathan administration not to use the collection of Permanent Voters Cards and the Voter Continous Registration in 12 states of the federation as another tool against APC strongholds.

He cautioned the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, against allowing himself or the commission to be used to short-change Nigerians.

He also blasted the administration for declaring austerity measures after mismanaging the economy.

Earlier, the Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, had said the President owed Nigerians an explanation about happenings in the North-East.

He said, “The President must tell us why our brothers and sisters are dying in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa and they are here enjoying in Abuja.

“The President must answer that why he is comfortable that Nigerians are dying and he is enjoying here. Today they insult us with what they call stomach infrastructure, this stomach infrastructure must stop.

“Three persons died in Bayelsa because they were sharing rice; that insult must stop. Nigerians must stop them. Today, the police must tell us whether they are the police for Nigerians or the police for Goodluck Jonathan.”

One of the party’s presidential aspirants and former Head of State, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), said the PDP-led administration since 1999 had shown itself to be “inept, corrupt and undisciplined.”

Our politician are just heartless, people are dying everyday in the NE and all oyegun is concerned about is the vote APC wont get from those region...

I guess terrorism is not a nigerian issue, instead of them coming together and proffering solution to the terrorism issue, they keep using the loss of life of nigerians to score political point...

I guess this is the change we want, one thing is clear though whether PDP or APC they are all the same, they don't care about the masses...SMH

Re: APC Blames Jonathan’s Re-election Bid For Rising Insurgency. by Ngwakwe: 5:05am On Nov 20, 2014

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has stated that re-electing President Goodluck Jonathan will constitute danger to the country, while blaming the country’s woes on the president.

In a statement issued in Osogbo yesterday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said under President Jonathan’s watch, the country had been thrown into unprecedented crisis.

The party also accused Jonathan of using national institutions, like the police and the army, to intimidate and harass ordinary citizens and opposition supporters.

The APC stated: “As we write, there are contrived crises in Rivers and Edo, where a handful of lawmakers, with the backing of higher authorities, have been terrorising the Houses of Assembly in their states and defying court orders at will, with the ultimate prize for the renegades being the states’ chief executives; and there is crisis in Adamawa, where an impeachment plot has been undoubtedly instigated and hatched by higher authorities, despite tepid denials, and soldiers have been deployed to cage very high state officials.

“In Ekiti, several billions of naira was allegedly scooped from a massive political war chest to subvert democracy, induce voters and upturn all known political theories to such an extent that all that anyone seeking to be elected now has to do is to dole out stolen public funds to a people already rendered comatose and impoverished by runaway corruption, glaring incompetence and sheer cluelessness that are the hallmarks of the Jonathan administration.”

The party said the only thing that interests President Jonathan was his re-election, saying: “While he pursues that goal with vigour, the over 200 missing girls in Borno State can stay where they are being kept by their abductors for over three months now; and the daily carnage in the North-East as well as Kaduna, Nasarawa and Benue can continue, even though over 12,000 people have been killed and 8,000 maimed. Once the president continues to play his dangerous politics of re-election, which involves using state resources and national institutions to muscle and muzzle the opposition; the press and ordinary citizens, all is well in the eyes of his purposeless party.”

The party stated that Nigerians were now more divided among ethnic and religious lines, “no thanks to a president who is so obsessed with power that he will not hesitate to cash in on the nation’s fault lines, abuse federal institutions, compromise once-credible public commentators to mortgage their integrity on the altar of greed, and disregard the Electoral Act by kick-starting campaign before the starting gun is fired.”

Even though there is a tone of concern in their statement, its all geared towards their own interests. It is not genuine concern. Politicians have always been known to use every means to get what they want and feigning concern is the easiest thing to do.

GEJ reelection bid is not the problem but the desperate manners by which he and his party is pursuing it. Punch is not being fair to APC by its caption. I wonder how much these quack journalists are being paid to render this level of havoc.

From this "ancestor"s comment, it can be deduced that BH was created by some power thirsty parties and "party" to stop Jonathan from declaring for second term and now that He declared, those same creators of Boko haram increased their activities to force him into withdrawing from the race.

CONCLUSION
now that Goodluck refused to back down they are crying wolf

1. To shift attention from themselves as creators of evil

2. To get cheap sympathy from the masses

At least, every sane Nigerian know that PDP=APC and APC=PDP! Same old wine in a new wineskin!!

So they should just be silent and observe? APC as a party is doing what and ideal opposition should be doing. Taking the US as an example, do you not agree that the Republicans are always on the neck of the Democrats, watchfully appraising and scrutinising them also?
The problem with Nigerians, especially gej supporters is that they don't see incongruity between democratic governance and their village oligarchy thus oppositions and critics are not tolerated.

You can't even recognize a general statement. So everything boils down to APC and PDP (or should I say GEJ and Buhari?)
You guys have got a lot of time to spare for this your e-warrior thing.

I'm yet to see sensible criticism ( borne out of genuine concern) from parties that play the opposition role whether it is APC or PDP. It's all about their own interest and not that of the citizens.

What lead to such deductions ? Facts or simply being brainwashed? or just sheer stupidity for stipends?
Going by facts, PDP is boko haram. Though folks like you don't learn for obvious reasons, I will points facts out.
First, it beats common sense that the Nigerian army flees from BH when several times, mere vigilantes and hunters have killed and successfully chased BH out of LGAs. Who controls all the security apparatuses? APC ?
There is no need reminding you of Azazi's death and what led to it.
The nonchalant attitude of the president to declaring a total and real war on BH is indicative of some benefit to him which obviously is political.
The individual who promised to make Nigeria ungovernable was and aggrieved PDP member. What does tell you, PDP's members know how to cause menace and crisis.
I can go on for pages about PDP 's atrocities and gej culpability but a dead mind would never learn. Its thoughts are limited to clans, religion and ethnicity. Here is the shocker, animals too have emotions and are clannish, so without intelligence and good reasoning, a person can be an animal(gej supporters).

Whether you like or not, the fact remains that APC is the cause of the current crisis in the country.
They're already started instigating low brain like you to make problem after losing woefully in next year's election.
