Twenty three out of 25 lawmakers of the Adamawa State House of Assembly say they are set to defect to the All Progressives Congress, APC, following Tuesday’s dissolution of the state executive of the ruling People Democratic Party, PDP, by the National Working Committee of the party.
The lawmakers allege that the sacking was “inimical to interest and genuine wishes of the Adamawa electorates”, a source close to the state lawmakers have disclosed.
The lawmakers say the dissolution is a setback.
“The Lawmakers are also irked that they have been used and dumped by party after restoring the glory by the impeachment of Governor Nyako and grassroots mobilization of electorates in favour of the party,” one lawmaker said.
“They  legislators felt that they deserved a better treatment than they have gotten having sacrificed a lot in terms of Legislative inputs and resources in  rescuing the party which was virtually dead in Adamawa State before the Legislators came to it’s rescue,” he added.
When contacted, the member representing Michika Constituency and Chairman House Committee on Information, Adamu Kamale, confirmed the development.
He said, “We have become disillusioned with the recent development and are under pressure from our constituents to reconsider our position in the party in the present situation where the party is at variance with the norms of democratic practice where the interest of the majority should supersede that of an individual or a select group.”
“We are studying what is going on, especially the dissolution of the Exco. The change in the recently delegates, elections and the appointment of the caretaker committee which were done without due consultation with the members and party stakeholders, are a source of concern,” he concluded.
Investigations further revealed that the lawmakers were earlier promised automatic tickets by the sacked exco, for any elective position of their choices in return for the ouster of Mr. Nyako which the presidency was so desperate to achieve as at then.
“But it seems the party in Abuja did not intend to honour the promises made, especially when the high-powered political game of who gets what’s began last month,” another source said.
“So, with this development, the lawmakers are set to dump the party for the APC because it appears to be the party that could accommodate their divergent interests. From the way things are going, it will not take a blind man to know that the burgeoning crisis in the PDP will mar its chances in Adamawa State in 2015.
“They are planning to defect to APC, where Atiku, former vice President will support them as some of the lawmakers have been romancing with him, before and during the impeachment saga,” the source added.

Dishonourables at it again, how many republican have you seen decamping to Democrat. APC and PDP are birds of a feather, they only decamp for their political gain without the interest of the masses. All these must end before we can move forward.

They deserve what they get. I hope the APC also disgrace them by denying them ticket in 2015. Those dishonorable men don't deserve any pity.
