82% of terror victims are in 5 Muslim countries -Arab News (Saudi Arabia official Press)


A staggering 82 percent of terror-related deaths occurred in five Muslim and OIC countries, namely Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nigeria and Syria, in 2013, according to a report published by the Vision of Humanity Foundation.

There has been a substantial increase in the number of terrorist attacks in 2013, according to the Global Terrorism Index (GTI).

Almost 18,000 people were killed that year, a 61-percent increase from the previous year, the foundation said.
The report pointed out that four organizations — Al-Qaeda, the Taliban, Boko Haram and the Islamic State (IS) — were behind most of the terrorist attacks that year.

"About 90 percent of attacks took place in countries with gross human rights violations," said the report.
Al-Qaeda launched 1,089 attacks, killing 8,585 people and injuring more than 12,000 others, while the Taliban carried out 2,757 attacks, killing 8,763 and injuring 9,115. IS, meanwhile, launched 492 attacks, killing 3,111 and injuring more than 8,000 people.

Iraq was the most affected by terrorism in 2013, losing 6,362 victims in almost 2,500 terror attacks, the report said.
A total of 24 other countries experienced terrorist attacks that killed more than 50 people in 2013, while 75 countries did not experience any terrorist attacks, it added.

<P>With building permits on the rise, Crosby said he and partners are spending $2.3 million to launch a second <A href="http://www.hmconcretebatchingplant.com/batching-plant/haomei-hzs50-concrete-batching-plant.html">belt type concrete batching plant</A> in Travelers Rest.</P>
<P>It will expand Metrocon's service territory from Pickens and Oconee counties and parts of Anderson to include much of Greenville County and a sliver of Spartanburg County, Crosby said.</P>
<P>He said the number of employees will rise from 13 to 22 and the number of mixing trucks from 13 to 20.</P>
<P>Crosby, a 41-year-old graduate of The Citadel, founded the company in 2006 with partners Tim Moore and the late Larry Howe.</P>
<P>He isn't the only small businessman opening his wallet.</P>
<P>The percentage of small businesses that told the National Federation of Independent Business that they planned to increase capital outlays in October rose slightly over the September figure, according to the group's latest Small Business Optimism Index.</P>
<P>NFIB said 26 percent of member companies surveyed said they planned to boost capital outlays, up 0.4 percent from September.</P>
<P>Other components of the index, however, were negative.</P>
<P>For example, just 11 percent of small businesses said October was a good time to expand, down 0.2 percent from the month before.</P>
<P>Overall, the index rose 0.8 percent to return to its August level of 96.1, the NFIB reported today.</P>
<P>Small businesses across the country are "preparing to taxi the runway but they don't plan to take off anytime soon," said Bill Dunkelberg, the group's chief economist.</P>
<P>For the Metrocon partners, however, a gradual increase in building permits generated enough confidence to expand.</P>
<P>"We track building permits and we do see a steady increase, not a great increase but a steady increase," particularly in northern Greenville County, Crosby said.</P>
<P>The only problem, he said, is that the cost of cement-mixing trucks isn't getting any cheaper. He's paying $220,000 per truck for seven trucks.</P>
<P>"Nobody bought trucks the last three or four years," Crosby said. "Now everybody's buying trucks."</P>
