Enyimba Dominates 2014 LBA Shortlists

Federation Cup champions, Enyimba FC of Aba have the highest nominations for the 2014 League Bloggers Awards. The two-time African champions are in the run for eight out of the 16 Awards which will hold at Sheraton Hotels, Lagos on December 15.

The awards cover 16 categories including the highest goal scorer award, which will go to Enyimba striker, Mfon Udoh. The former Nigerian champions also got nominations in the Fair Play Award, Best Use of Social Media (for clubs), Best Website, Best Designed Jersey categories among others.

According to China Acheru, LBA Business Manager while commenting on the nominations, he said the organisation consulted independent persons, journalists, players and coaches as well as administrators in reaching the list of final nominees.

“It was a process where we had to talk to players and coaches personally and sample who and who they believe deserved to be on the shortlist. Of course, these are the major actors in the league and we got diverse views. We also had to talk to some journalists with vast knowledge and experience in covering the league and a handful of administrators before picking the nominees.”

“After the process we also had to look at performances and disciplinary records of players, coaches and clubs during the season to arrive at our final shortlist,” Acheru said.
