Three Gubernatorial Aspirants Boycott APC Primaries In Taraba State by Ayed44: 7:35pm On Dec 04, 2014
Three among the four aspirants for the gubernatorial
primaries under All Progressive Congress APC in
Taraba state have boycott from the venue of the
primaries accusing the party for lack of transparency
in the election process.
Dr. Muhammad Julde, Alhaji M T Tumba and Barr.
Yusufu Akirikwen Thursday boycott the election
complaining that there were irregularities in respect
of the gubernatorial primaries.
Earlier Dr. Muhammed Julde, Alhaji M T Tumba,
Yususfu Akirikwen,and Sen. Aisha Arhasan were
cleared by the party to aspire for the primary election
in the state.
In their formal complaint to the APC Primaries
Committee Taraba state, of which the resident
commissioner of Independent National Electoral
Commission INEC, the state commissioner of police,
the state director SSS the national and zonal
chairmen of the party were copied, the three aspirant
accused the primaries committee of taken side to
one aspirant in the quest to conduct of the primaries.
“It is known to you that we have been cleared and
certified to contest in the APC gubernatorial
primaries scheduled to hold on Thursday the 4th
December 2014 based on this approval by the party”
“we committed ourselves in various ways to see that
we participate as democrats in the primaries. We
further in pursuit of this purpose applied for all the
information necessary for our successful
participation in the process of the primaries”
“It is true that we asked for the list of delegates
accredited by the party for the exercise of electing a
sole candidate from all the aspirants but this request
has not been honored by you the primaries
committee”
“Up to this moment even though you are eager to go
ahead with the process of the primaries regardless of
the fact that our request has been denied”
“Take note that we are ready and also prefer to opt
out of the primaries as our request as
aforementioned has not been met by your
committee”
Akirikwen stated on behave of the other two
aspirants.
The state chairman of the party Hasan Jika Ardo
denied knowledge of the three aspirants boycott
from the primaries.
He said non out of the three aspirants has written to
him that he is not sertisfied
With the with the process.
He said all the aspirants were in his office on the eve
of the primaries including the primaries committee
but non of them complaint of anything “therefore as
far as am concern there is no problem with the
primaries process” the party chairman stated.
