Xmas: 5 phones that will make great gifts this 1.            Tecmor T10:
THIS phone brings back the memories of Nokia 3310 because of its ruggedness, the T10 is a China phone built with the average Nigerian’s needs in mind. It is a dual-SIM feature phone with an amazingly large 4,000mAh battery. Because it does not have data connection like smartphones, it can last well over three weeks with constant use before the recharge. It can charge a second phone and has the other functionalities like torch, radio, camera and so on. Its extendable antenna also means greater reception in areas where network signals are poor. Availability is at roadside phone vendors. Average price: N3,500.

2.            Infinix Zero:
If you are searching for an Android phone that is affordable yet having decent specifications within and outside then the Infinix Zero is a good choice. This dual-SIM smartphone has 2GB RAM and and internal storage of 16GB. It runs Android 4.4 which was the latest version until the recent advent of Android Lollipop. The packaging is quite sleek, with Corning Gorilla glass scratch protection for the screen and back cover. The makers also provide free first time screen replacement in some major cities in the country. The only downside to the phone may be the battery size at 1920mAh. But considering the price and other specifications, the device is a good buy. It is available via online purchase. Average price: N23,900.

3.            Ascend P7:
This device can rightly be called premium for the sheer quality of materials the makers, Huawei, have put into the device. It compares well with an iPhone when it comes to looks and packs just as much processing power and speed with specifications that include a 16million colour display, 1.8Ghz processor speed and a good battery size of 2500mAh. It is rather light at 124g, and come with a 13megapixel camera with flash. The device is available in retail stores all over the country. Average price: N78,000.

4.            Blackberry Passport:
The BlackBerry rave has been revived with the coming of the Passport and if you are looking to give out a truly impressive gift this season, the Passport will not be a disappointment. BlackBerry Passport has an upgraded operating system called BlackBerry 10.3. BlackBerry calls it the device built for the most demanding user using durable materials mixed with top-of-the-line technology, including a Quad Core 2.2 GHZ Processor, 3 GB RAM, 13 MP OIS rear camera and 32 GB memory. Other features of the Passport include a 4.5 inch square screen with a1:1 aspect ratio, 1440x1440 pixel(453 dpi) HD display and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for added strength. Many who know about the device have been waiting for a price drop before they buy. However, the price has remained stable for the past month. Average price: N125,000.

5.            iPhone 6:
If you the gift you look for is one that will set the receiver apart from the pack then the iPhone 6 devices are it. Apple has launched two new iPhones, the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus. Along with larger screens and a completely new iPad-style design with an ultra thin body and rounded corners, the two new phones offer faster processors, better cameras. Apple’s new iPhones are available in Gold, Silver, and Space Gray, and are available in 16, 64, and 128 GB capacities. While both models include the same 64-bit A8 chip and the same general design. The iPhone 6 measures in at 6.9mm, while the iPhone 6 Plus is slightly thicker at 7.1mm. Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus also has three major differentiating factors: optical image stabilization for the camera, and a longer battery life, and an iPad-style landscape mode that displays more content on the screen. Average price: N200,000.
