Newly Launched APS Portal And Helpline Will Transform Aviation Sector by Kingspin(m): 6:00am On Dec 10, 2014
LAGOS - Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka, said the newly-launched Aviation Passenger Service (APS) Portal and Aviation Helpline would enhance competition in the sector.

The portal, according to the Ministry, would facilitate the transformation of the aviation sector into a customer-centric industry.

Chidoka added it would improve the quality of services rendered by airlines at the nation's airports.

"The portal is intended to put the necessary data needed for decision making at the fingertips of the flying public. With the incessant flight delays encountered at the airports, this feature is designed to expose the efficiencies or otherwise of airlines operating in the country as well as enable passengers to make informed decisions on which airlines to patronize while making arrangements for flight schedules," Chidoka said.

He said the aviation portal would serve as a dynamic information site for all airports in the country with a view to provide relevant information specific to the airports. It is purposed to equip travelers with the basic information required to give comfort and safety while travelling.

Information that would to be made available at the airports site would include hotels around airports, hospitals around airports, ground transportation, current weather conditions, departure flights and arrival flights, officials said.

The portal will enable feedback on issues pertaining to domestic airlines and other occurrences at the airports in the country for appropriate intervention by relevant officials.
