Addictions are independent of any temperament.

Yes, the truth is no individual is 100% in temperament, there is usually a combination of 2 to 3 (or even more than) temperaments in an individual. While your basic temperament is Phlegmatic, your secondary temperament might be PhlegChol (Phlegmatic & Choleric) or PhlegMel, or PhlegSan. For instance, you're phlegmatic, but you are not stingy, and at times you misbehave (get angry), then you are likely to be a PhlegChol, the Choleric temperament has blended with the phlegmatic and hence some traits or characters are surpressed. Futhermore, things like family, education, environment, etc can influence your temperament. For instance, a shy Phlegmatic can develop boldness to stand and speak in public due to the type of school he's attended or maybe he has bold friends who has influenced him.

You're Phlegmatic, i'm Phlegmatic too (PhlegMel) !

WHY YOU ACT THE WAY YOU DO
Temperament influences everything you do- from sleep habits, to study habits, to eating style, to the way you get along with other people. Humanly speaking, there is no other influence in your life more powerful than your temperament or combination of temperaments.
WHAT IS TEMPERAMENT? Temperament is the combination of in-born traits that subconsciously affect man’s behaviour. ‘It is the you in you that makes you the you, you really are!’’. It is a person’s temperament that makes him out-going and extroverted or shy and introverted.
CHARACTER is the real you. It is the result of your natural temperament modified by childhood training, education, basic attitudes, beliefs, principles and motivations. While PERSONALITY is the outward expression of ourselves which may or may not be the same as our character. Man learns that if he is to live at peace with his fellow man, it is best to emphasize his natural strengths and subdue his weaknesses.
MEET THE FOUR TEMPERAMENTS
No doubt, you will identify several of your friends in one or another of these classifications, and you would also discover one that reminds you of yourself.
(1)THE SANGUINE: Sanguines are warm, buoyant, lively, sociable, cheerful, carefree, optimistic, talkative, pleasure seeking, out-going, a super-extrovert, and receptive by nature. The moment he enters a room, he tends to lift the spirit of everyone present with his exuberant conversation as such a fascinating story-teller. Mr sanguine never lacks for friends. He seems to value you when you are there but when you are out of sight, he may easily forget you.He is a great motivator and quick to forgive and forget. His weaknesses includes; he is emotionally unstable, undisciplined, carefree, exaggerates, materialistic and extravagant.
(2)THE CHOLERIC: Cholerics are hot, quick, active, practical, strong-willed, self sufficient and very independent persons. Mr choleric is practical, demanding, a quick thinker, domineering, easily annoyed, enthusiastic, has great ambition, bossy and arrogant, fearless and courageous. He does not naturally sympathize with easily or express compassion. He does not hesitate to use others to accomplish his desires. Cholerics makes the best natural born leader. He is ambitious, strong-willed, authoritative and has little tolerance for mistakes, has inflated ego, daring, a risk taker, can’t say ‘’ I’M SORRY’’and goal-oriented. Mr Choleric speaks his mind and often don’t mind his speech even though it hurts others. Like the Sanguines, they are extroverts.
(3)THE MELANCHOLY: He is said to be the richest of all temperaments. He is analytical, gifted, self-sacrificing, perfectionist type with a very sensitive emotional nature. He is an introvert. Mr Melancholy is a faithful friend but unlike the sanguines, he does not make friends easily. He seldom pushes himself forward to meet people but rather lets them come to him. Sometimes, moods lift him to extreme highs; at other times he will be gloomy and depressed. Melancholies may be calm and quiet on the surface but they are often angry and resentful and do not forgive easily. They have problem expressing their minds and feelings thereby keeping the feelings to themselves until they build-up and eventually the anger explodes in a fit of rage.
(4)THE PHLEGMATIC: Mr phlegmatic is the calm, easy-going, never-get-upset kind of individual and the most likeable of all temperaments. He is meek, gentle, cslm, cool, can be selfish and stingy, great procrastinator, indecisive, unmotivated, avoids responsibilities, extra burdens and hides real feelings. He is a submissive introverts who live to please others and only wish for peace. He is introverted and enjoy time alone. They are loyal to their friends and spouses stickin with them through thick and thin even through abuse and would only snap after a long period of persistent abuse.
Now that you have met the four temperaments, you no doubt realize why ‘‘people are individuals’’. We are all a blend of at least two temperaments, one predominates, the other is secondary.
Every individual possess some strengths and weaknesses of his temperament/temperament blends.
Which temperament are you?
