OMG!!!! Nigeria May Have Something Worse Than Boko Haram by victoronyekwelu(m): 8:55pm On Dec 13, 2014
With the current spate of insecurity in the
country many Nigerians wonder if the
government is putting any measures in place
to put a permanent end to terrorism.
One of them is Evangelist Elliot Uko, the
founder of the Igbo Youth Movement and
Deputy Secretary Igbo Leaders of Thought,
who has shared his unhappiness with the way
the Federal Government is handling the issue
of Boko Haram, the group which intends to
carry out an Islamic Caliphate in Northern
Nigeria.
According to Vanguard, Evangelist Elliot Uko,
who said the FG should take decisive and
proactive action, also said that if the roots and
the cause of insurgency in Nigeria are not
tackled, the country would have a group worse
than Boko Haram in the future.
Uko who stated that Boko Haram which he
described as cancer was orchestrated as a
result of some certain people’s act and did not
just fall from the sky and as such we should
stop living in the denial and address the
mindset of the people who inspired this
madness if another Boko Haram will rise after
the demise of this one.
He said the root cause of Boko Haram should
be treated and not just focusing on the
symptoms before there can be peace in the
country.
Uko also said Boko Haram is a product of a
mindset called Jihad which was initiated after
the introduction of Sharia legal code about 14
years by some people.
However, he said the Boko Haram fighters
were inspired by certain religious clerics, while
stating that the violent culture of killings,
blood-letting, religious bigotry and regional
nepotism, which influenced these young men,
has been accepted in the North as a way of
life. As it gave legitimacy to the born-to-rule
mentality.
Uko also stated that those who initiated Boko
Haram are now at the receiving end of this
cancer.
He said: “Our president must deal with this
cancer decisively. I disagree with his assertion
that he is not a lion. He is Commander-in-
Chief. He must face up to reality. Boko Haram
is a fast spreading cancer that must be
destroyed.”
Speaking on what the Igbo Leaders of Thought
are doing to assist in fighting terrorism said
they brought the attention of the government
to the grave danger that Boko Haram in the
South-East portends.
The Igbo Leaders of thought led by Prof. Ben
Nwabueze (SAN) is a gathering of
accomplished men and women who want only
the best for their country. Prof. Nwabueze, in
spite of age and not so good health, travelled
several times to Abuja and to the East from his
Lagos base to try and assist in building a
strong, united, prosperous nation.
