The face-off between Nigeria and the United States over the commitment and sincerity of the US military in assisting Nigeria to fight the Boko Haram insurgency worsened within the week.
This followed an allegation by a top Nigerian intelligence source that US trainers incited Nigerian soldiers to mutiny.

The source toldSUNDAY PUNCHthat recent mutiny by Nigerian soldiers was as a result of the ‘negative teachings’ by US trainers, adding that it was a major reason the Federal Government stopped the US from training Nigerian soldiers on counter-terrorism.
But the US in its reaction, through the Press Attache of the US Embassy in Abuja, Sean J. McIntosh, described the allegations as baseless.

She said, “The allegations are baseless. The third phase of training did not occur because the Nigerian Army failed to provide the necessary equipment for the training.”
The US, as well as the UK, France and China, had offered help in human and technical capacities to deal with the wider problem of terrorism in North-eastern Nigeria.

But the relationship between the two countries worsened when the US refused to sell military hardware, especiallycobrahelicopters, to Nigeria to prosecute the campaign against Boko Haram.
The security source, who pleaded anonymity, said the security chiefs and the Federal Government doubted the genuineness of the motive of the US security experts in the country.

The source added that despite the presence of the US experts, there was no noticeable impact on the task of recovering the abducted girls of the Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok.
He added that the US forces had not given the expected intelligence that could have been utilised by the nation’s security forces against Boko Haram.
“Our investigations show that some of the soldiers that were involved in mutiny received training in the US. These trainings often highlight negative things about the Federal Government.

“Another thing Nigerians should note is that since the Americans came here purportedly to help get the Chibok girls, they have not done anything. What have they done with all their technology and might? Is it not suspicious?”
When asked if the US would be asked to withdraw its intelligence staff from Nigeria, the source said, “They are a super power. It might not be easy to tell them to leave.”

But the US embassy spokesman said his country had not received any directive or request from Nigeria to withdraw its intelligence personnel who were brought into the country to assist with the rescue of the abducted Chibok schoolgirls

He said, “The US continues to support Nigerian efforts to bring about the safe recovery of those kidnapped and to advise the Nigerian government on its response. Staffing of the US government interdisciplinary team in Nigerian remains steady since the initial surge following the kidnapping.”

Why are the US so obsessed with Nigeria? What do they want with us? Looks like they discovered something spectacular in Nigeria and are doing everything possible to get their filthy hands on it. And the only way to get it is by causing trouble for us?

What's this one saying? Do you know the history between Nigeria and Libya? Do you know Libya was responsible for must of the conflicts directly and indirectly in Sudan, Chad, Mali etc?
Nigeria was against Libya at that time for her own interest visavis our history with them and their penchant attitude for causing trouble within West and Central African sub region.

the USA uprooted sadam in Iraq, trained the iraqi army and supplied them with the military hardwares and logistics needed for a modern day army..fast forward to 2014, ISIS has overun the iraqi army! infact they took over a complete division with just ak-47s!..guess what? The west and her allies are still sending military hardwares to aid the Iraqis against the jihadists after such show of incompetence. .now do you know the irony of it all? ISIS is still gaining more grounds despite the alliance of world powers against them! isn't that funny? that the United nations haven't subdued a jihadist militia even with the better firepower? infact the US secretary general Mr kerry said "defeating ISIS is more than military might alone" don't you find this very ironic?.....but phools here in this country will never see beyond their noses..phools all of them!

you CANNOT defeat an ideology with a gun..you can supress it for a while, but it will come out even stronger as long as it's adherents still breathe...one would have thought that the death of Osama bin Laden will bring to a halt the morales pf the adherents of islamic jihadists....ISIS showed them (infact showed the world), the error in such thinking...

Any West African nation that looks up to the West to get any assistance should have their heads properly checked as they seem to have forgotten their own dirty history with these half men half demon of a people.

America can never be trusted unless you're dead sure that their interest is a major security concern to them.

You said it all.
An Iraqi army train by America and over run by ISIS within few weeks is the greatest insult ever to the people of Iraq. Basically what the Americans were doing was training ISIS as a tool for destabilization of Iraq and the Middle East. Perfect opportunity for America to widen her military might across the globe.
The same thing happened in East Africa, Somalia to be precise. The Americans battled Somali warlords for years since the early 90s. The situation never got better. In fact it kept getting worse and worse. Before the arrival of US military, the conflict in Somalia was domestic, restricted entirely within Somalia. But soon after the US arrived, the country never remain the same again. It took an international dimension threatening the peace and security of the entire East African sub region. Today Alshabab has capabilities to attack Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Djibouti and even Tanzania combined. All this because of America's secret policy (expanding her military grip through all corners of the world)
What they've done in Iraq and Somalia is exactly what they're trying to implement in Nigeria with Boko Haram.

All i know is that American foreign policy is a mess. Look at this way;

Th US is so screwed up they don’t even know who to support anymore.

They took out Gaddaffi, look what that got them and Libya Will never be the same.

They want to kill the Syrian government forces but so does ISIS. That means they 're on the same side as ISIS in Syria.

But they need to kill ISIS because they want to kill their friends in Iraq...

Iran wants to kill ISIS in Iraq and in Syria. That means the U.S have to align themselves with Iran in Iraq but oppose them in Syria.

Their NATO ally, Turkey, wants to kill the bad Kurds but might help the good Kurds...

Everybody except ISIS wants to kill Khorasan.
If the Kurds were to win against ISIS they would then attack the Iraqi forces. That would be rout because we all know the Iraqi military won’t fight. They proved that in both the Bush wars by surrendering by the thousands and by throwing down their weapons and fleeing from ISIS.

Now Obama wants to train 5000 butchers, bakers and candlestick makers so in 6-12 months they can kill 40,000 ISIS members then kill Assad’s army, and maybe flip a coin to see which Kurds they kill.

What a mess of a foreign policy.

God helped us we quickly realised and d government sent them away, if not the half of the north would have been gone now. At the same time they trained our fighters they also trained the opposition on our weakness and how to handle sophisticated weapons. We battling with the few they trained. Imagine they are still here by now, it will be a different story
