Ex Niger Delta militant, Mr. Government Ekpemupolio popurlarly known as Tompolo has acquired seven formerly decommissioned Norwegian battleships. According to Norwegian newspaper, Dagbladet, the fast-speed Hauk-class guided missile boats has been refurbished with new weaponry. Skjold Class Missile. The reports states that Tompolo’s recent purchase includes a KNM Horten, a fast-attack craft now used in fighting piracy in Nigeria’s waterways. Tompolo is the owner of the Global West Vessel Service, a privately owned contractor for maritime security for the Nigerian Maritime Safety Agency, despite his militant past. The arms were bought through the CAS Global, a British security company that has an export license from Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, after which Tompolo bought them off the British company. Dagblade states that seven Norwegian warships now patrol the Nigerian seas under contract for the Federal Government. The warships are said to have been acquired to battle out militants who have been disrupting the production of oil in Nigeria.
