Do We Still Need The Post Office ? by tomsniel(m): 3:40am On Dec 17, 2014 |
I went to the post office today for the first time in six years or thereabout. The place was virtually empty with little or no transactions going on. Some boxes were left open and some looked like they have not gotten a mail in years. Since the advent of the mobile phones, internet,e-mails, social networking which has made communication alot easier. The use of the post office has gone down drastically. So I am asking do we still need d post office ? |

Truthfully, we don't. The problem is not we using them, its countries with perfectly functional mail systems still sending us letters. Countries like the United Kingdom and Norway till this very day send physical letters via mail because they believe every other country has good post service as a basic amenity. If post offices were shut down, how would people recieve mails from relatives and friends situated in those countries? |

The post-office is still very much in need. The need to send and receive certain 'physical' items still exists. I recently received a parcel via Royal Mail. The only thing that has changed is the reduction of letter-mails. Also in saner climes E-delivery systems often leverage the extensive knowledge of the post office system |
