The Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, has emerged as one of the five benefiting institutions from across the world to be granted a research grant of about Eleven thousand, eight hundred and thirty five dollars ($11,835) by a Switzerland based organisation, AZTRAZENECA.

The foreign organisation received about 80 applications from top universities and research institutes across the globe and selected five on merit.

Speaking on the University’s successful application, Prof. Diran Famurewa, a Microbiologist said that as the principal investigator, he is leading a team of virologists conducting a research into the Contribution of Safforld Virus to Acute Flaccid Paralysis of Unknown Origin.

This research work has now received the support of AZTRAZENECA who will provide financial backing to Ekiti State University to complete the research work.

Receiving the team in his office, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oladipo Aina, commended the commitment of the research team especially the responsible leadership of Prof. Diran Famurewa. He added that other academic staff must also improve their ability to attract global funding and attention to the University.

Prof. Aina thanked AZTRAZENECA Company and assured them that the fund would be used judiciously.
