Today's Nigerian may profess loudly his distaste for corruption, waste and maladministration. But Today's Nigerian cannot stomach the arbitrary exercise of authority and brutality usually associated with Buhari, as Today's Nigerian has evolved a long way from the 'end justifies the means', 'kill & go' mentality of the 1980s Nigerian.

Today's Nigerian is unwilling to sacrifice basic freedoms like freedom of the press, freedom of speech, religion, association etc, in the quest to enthrone probity and eliminate graft. This fundamental shift in the Nigerian's consciousness is what accounts for Buhari's lack of success in challenging for the top seat. The APC have failed woefully to keep in tandem with this newly evolving Nigerian consciousness. This wilful or unwitting blindness to our political evolution as a people has made them commit the error of promoting and fielding this individual once again. APC strategists need to understand that they must field a presidential candidate who combines integrity and the qualities of a modern technocrat with a clear recognition and embracing of basic democratic principles, in order to win over the Nigerian electorate. For as long as they keep fielding baggage-laden ex-generals, former dictators etc, they will keep displaying their strategic ineptitude and political naivety in the Nigerian terrain, and keep existing as the opposition party.

They read the mood of Nigerians well. The two issues are CORRUPTION and INSECURITY. They have brought the general who will solve corruption problems and the VP who will sanitize government and JAIL corrupt people.
There is mortal fear not only in the PDP but the entire sleazy socio-economic corruption construct put in place by a well connected minority to steal the collective patrimony of all Nigerians.
On May, 2015 expect oil thieves, fuel subsidy scammers and others applying for long term visas out of Nigeria.

They misread Nigerians because buhari is in the past. Electing buhari is like taking. A time travel back to 1983

Fighting corruption during the military rule is far easier than fighting it in democracy we now practice today. Then, the Head of state have absolute powers to pick anyone up. Unlike today. For instance, facrook case has lingered in court

Nigeria's 1983, 84 and 85 was better than now.
Check out the graduates of that era, the universities, civil service, the standard of roads that were built.
All our refineries were under expansion or completed. Not a single refinery has been built since then.
Nigeria airways was flying, NNSL had all the 22 ships.
There was Ajaokuta almost completed.
Petrochemical plant almost completed.
To make matters even more interesting, the Nigerian army and air force then were actually stronger than now even with a much lower budget.
The joke is on any young man who thinks the past was worse than now.
If I were Buhari I would actually run with that message, ..'bring back the glorious and dynamic past'..

Since when did ''almost completed'' become an achievement? Fact is in sheer economic terms, Nigerians are far better off today than they were in 1985. Incomes and living standards have improved by all measurements. In the 1980s university lecturers could barely afford to ride cars, food (especially meat) was expensive, etc etc. Nigeria Airways may not be flying but we have ARIK and other indigenous airlines now competing to bring prices down, our airports are a lot better now, and the railway system has been revitalised, with China recently signing a $12 billion contract to build a massive coastal line in the south. A high speed standard gauge line between Abuja and Kaduna is virtually completed. In 1985 Buhari was busy cancelling the Lagos metro line, while today, the initial phases of the Lagos metro are close to completion under civilian rule. Today we have indigenous car manufacturers like INNOSON, computer manufacturers like Zinox, and even mobile phone makers in the country. Heck we even have the first black built satellite hovering in space today. I think we've come a long way since '85.

The metronome Buhari cancelled was unviable and could only have been completed with foreign loans at cut throat interest. Please always verify your facts. The project had not even secured full right of way and land acquisition. To put it into perspective IBB overthrew GMB to correct the regime's non listening attitude, why did he not finish the metroline. Even Jakande who started it later became like prime minister undelete Buhari, why did he not revisit the project. Please always apply depth in your thinking. As for high speed rail and other high fallutin infrastructure projects let me let you in on a secret. Anybody who becomes governor or president today will meet in office hundreds of proposals for everything under the sun coming from the best of the best of manufacturers of trains, power plants, fertilizer plants, refineries, solar plants et.c.. They will send you the proposals direct from the corporate offices in Europe, US and China along with offers of financing so you don't even have to worry about the money. Even the lowest IQ monkey can pick and choose but it is not that simple and white elephant projects the norm. The only positive difference individual governments can make is in project management capacitu of that government and also its ability to link the isolated projects in a way that provides synergy. The only gov t that knows what it is doing in that respect is the LASG.

Most of Jonathan's infrastructure projects are being done with Chinese Exim bank loans, sometimes they still vote money for the same projects chop it after sharing with legislators. I want you to do an independent investigation of many instances of double entry tricks like this littered all over the budgets of the Jonathan admin. Some projects started as PPP but it is the federal government that is paying for it from a foreign loan and the profits are going to private pockets after completion. Pockets that have not contributed a dime.
So good luck on your fancy high speed rail and many thanks to China that developed a cheap technology for fast rail and who have to sell their excess steel that wad becoming a problem. We also have to thank them for their marketing skill and financing offers which package offers are extended for almost all other countries that are also buying it including parts of Europe.

The truth is you could make the argument that 1964 was better than 2014 in regards to corruption, unity, purpose, etc.

The truth is Buhari is carrying out the script. The powers that be do not want true opposition to the status quo, because they are milking this former (and current) British colony dry of its resources.

Thus, you put a "credible" candidate each time to hijack the leading/or a leading opposition party, the person loses, and for the next 4 years stays idol to repeat the process.

That's the game plan folks, and for all the useless SAI Buhari idiots that pop up here every fours years, you can SAI Bulls.hit as well
