ExI IICC Star Moses Otolorin is dead
FORMER mid fielder with IICC Shooting Stars of Ibadan now christened, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) Moses Otolorin, has died at 67.Otolorin, who was reported to have been critically ill for sometime gave up the ghost in the early hours of Monday at his Ilorin hometown in Kwara State. He died of prostrate and anus cancer.Otolorin in a voice recorded rushes, relayed on some radio stations in Ilorin calling for the help of Nigerians for the paltry sum of N400,000, for surgeries could not get the much needed financial aid before he died. The attempted intervention was anchored by a sports enthusiast, Saka Toyin, in Ilorin. Otolorin  retired as a senior sports coach at the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin some six years ago.He is survived by a wife, children and grandchildren. His remains has since been deposited at a mortuary in the city pending when the family will meet to decide burial arrangements.The late soccer legend was a member of the IICC squad that brought the first continental laurel to Nigeria in 1976 after winning the African Cup Winners Cup under the tutelage of Chief Lekan Salami alongside the likes of Samuel Ojebode, Philip Boamah, Segun Odegbami, Folorunso Gambari, Idowu Otubusen, goalkeeper Best Ogedegbe, Muda Lawal and Nathaniel Adewole among others..He is known for his famous long throw-ins. He also featured for the then Green Eagles, as the senior national football team was known.Meanwhile, the Kwara State Sports Writers Association (SWAN) has described the death as shocking in view the contributions of the great footballer.In a statement jointly signed by its Chairman Bunmi Adedoyin and Secretary, Jimoh Bashir the Association said the death came at a time when the nation needed his service more.It urged the family to take solace in the facts the late Moses Otolorin lived a useful and purposeful life.The Association prayed God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and grant him eternal rest.

Moses Otolorin, former central defender of Shooting Stars of Ibadan is dead.The former Green Eagles player was reported critically ill before breathing his last at the early hours of Monday at his hometown in Ilorin, Kwara state.Otolorin until his death was a member of the IICC squad that brought the first continental laurel to Nigeria in 1976 after winning Africa’s Winners Cup.In the 1976 continental laurel, Otolorin played alongside late Rashidi Yekini, Segun Odegbami, Folohunso Gambari, Nathaniel Adewole, Mudashiru Lawal and Best Ogedegbe, to mention just a few.Otolorin, who died in his late 60s, is survived by a wife, children and grandchildren.
