Manuel Pellegrini will be looking for his Manchester City side to keep the pressure up on Premier League leaders Chelsea when they go to West Brom on Boxing Day.

The Hawthorns has been a happy hunting ground for City in recent years with the Premier League champions unbeaten in their last four visits in the league.

With Pellegrini’s striking options limited once again, he will be looking for Yaya Toure to continue his goalscoring form – the Ivorian has hit four goals in his last six – as City have won the last 18 Premier League matches the midfielder has scored in.

West Brom will be hoping they have turned a corner at home despite suffering a 3-2 defeat at the hands of QPR at Loftus Road last time out.

Alan Irvine’s men squandered a 2-0 lead in west London but will be hoping to take more confidence from a 1-0 win over Aston Villa in their last home game.

The Baggies have won just four home league games in 2014 with Hull the only present Premier League team to have won fewer in this period.

West Brom have Chris Brunt, who has been out of action since limping off during Albion's draw at Hull City, available for selection again but Victor Anichebe is out for the visit of Man City.

Georgios Samaras is likely to return to the squad after travelling to Greece for a family matter, while Graham Dorrans should be fit despite not training on Tuesday due to a tight calf. Boaz Myhill is also a doubt after suffering from illness.

City will again be without any senior strikers for the trip to West Brom. Sergio Aguero, Stevan Jovetic and Edin Dzeko are all still absent, while captain Vincent Kompany also remains on the sidelines.

Jovetic and Kompany are the closest to returning and could play some part in City’s festive fixtures, according to Pellegrini. The City boss also confirmed that left-back Gael Clichy, who missed the Palace game after a minor knock, is fit.
