Lagos Cancels December 27, 2014 Environmental Sanitation by lordmayor2013(m): 5:57am On Dec 27, 2014
There are indications that the monthly
environmental sanitation slated for December 27,
2014, will not hold in Lagos. It is likely due to the
Christmas festival and to allow for free movement of residents who are travelling in and out of Lagos
State.

As at press time there was no official statement
from the Ministry of Environment on the subject
which is quite unusual. Usually the Lagos State
Government through the Ministry of Environment
will issue statement either stating that the exercise
will hold or it has been cancelled.

We made efforts to reach Director of Press and
Public Relations in the Ministry of Environment,
Mr. Fola Adeyemi, but he was not available. Text
messages sent to his phone number was not
replied.

We equally sent messages inquiring about the
exercise to the General Manager, Lagos State
Waste Management Authority(LAWMA), Dr. Ola
Oresanya and the Commissioner for Environment,
Mr. Tunji Bello but they have not replied the text
messages as at the time of filing the report.
Other sources close to government said the
exercise will not hold since there was no
statement on the issuse.
