concluded governorship primary in Rivers

Democratic Party (PDP), Dumo Lulu
Briggs, has rejected the overtures from
Nyesom Wike for reconciliation.
Briggs said he was not in a position to
reconcile with Wike as far the governorship
primary was concerned, because, he “did
not take part in that exercise, which was
flawed in all ramifications”.
The PDP governorship aspirant re-stated
that the only way that reconciliation could
take place within the party was for the PDP
leaders to conduct a fresh primary.
About 15 out of the 16 aspirants were said
to have agreed to reconcile with Wike, the
party’s standard bearer, to have a
common front that will enable PDP win the
governorship election next year.
The communiqué at the end of their
meeting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State
capital, read by one of the aspirants, Nimi
Walson-Jack, said it was important for
everybody to come together and work for
the success of the party.
But Briggs said: “There is no need for
reconciliation because the election that
brought Wike in the first place was flawed.
“That election must be cancelled and a
fresh one conducted. Everybody must go
to the field and test their popularity. Not
that Kangaroo election”.
Briggs, who spoke through his media
director, Lekia Christian, said that though
he would not leave the PDP, “the right
thing must be done at all times.
