Assuming the dealers were buying at N150 per litre before and the government was paying them N53 per litre to subsidize the price to N97, then crude oil price dropped and the dealers now purchase at N107 per litre, the government will now be paying them N10 per liter to keep the price at N97. So in essence, the amount spent on subsidy reduced, while the price remains the same. The only way the price will fall in Nigeria is if the cost price falls below N97, then there will be no need for subsidy any more. |

I like GEJ but this issue of fuel susidy has increased the corruption rate in Nigeria. People now use the so called SURE-P funds for their own enrichment. God save Nigeria |
