Please, I need some one with an informed counsel or suggestion to help me out: I live in Abuja, in a one Bedroom Flat, while another tenant occupies the other twin Flat - a one Bedroom Flat. Although we enjoy relatively good power supply - may be 15 hours or more in a day, when our transformer is working optimally, but the bills that come at the end of the month, to my mind is uncalled for. Because we are yet to get a meter, which delay is caused by the power company, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Co, brings an estimated bills of between 10,000 to 11,000 Naira every month, which sees me paying about 5,000 Naira electricity bill per month. This I think is outrageous, considering the fact that what we use is a single phase connection and we are not in a commercial or densely populated area( I live in Dutse, Abuja). We have applied for a prepared meter, but for close to one year now, AEDC, has not deemed it expedient to install any for us, inspite of repeated demands we have made to them. It seems they enjoy bringing these estimated bills to us, just for their own selfish reason. I believe, if the two flats had prepaid meter, we cannot exhaust power units of even 5,000 Naira per month. Please, what do I do, because am tired paying these bloated bills? Thank you.

corruption has eaten deep in our society like bed bugs. everbody's corrupt and criminally minded even the government owned firms.

i don't know when nigeria will get better.

My bill for December was over N6000 and I went to lodge a complain and they told me because I did not use up to 100 units they billed me for using 340 units. PHCN and its subsidiaries are corrupt to the core!

Reason properly! Complaining about a clearly inflated bill is NOT poverty...

Dear , that the electricity power supply in Nigeria has improved tremendously , since after its privatization, at least in so many parts of the country , is not in debate . And this simply means that it will get better soonest , since there is always room for improvement . Therefore , every consumer is expected to pay higher fee to enjoy the service , it is as simple as that . However , I neither hold brief for the electricity power suppliers nor in support of them reaping my people off ,no .

In my capacity as someone who have been privileged to traverse the breath and length of the world , I stand bold to tell you that quality life does not come cheap anywhere . To this end , I urge you my compatriots to brace up for higher rise in services that always accompany efficient services and quality of life in general .

Its about time we all put whining and religious fanaticism behind us and embrace mastery of our chosen arts , dedication to our chosen life endeavors , dynamism , creativity , perseverance , hard work and not negating smart work since it pay faster and better , to enable us all become financial independent in our individual capacities and enjoy the quality of life we all long for . I am foreseeing a greater Nigeria .

I wish you all the very best of all the things this great new year can offer .

its one thing to cry for 24hrs power supply. ..... we also need to understand it requires 24hrs funds which translates to 24hrs bills.

Now I am not for charges on unrendered services but efficient services we crave are not free.

Some Nigerians like suffer, having constant light does not equal excessive charging. The quality of life in UK is far higher than Nigeria so the costs should not be remotely related.

This is about getting value for service rendered. OP,if I'm in your shoes I will personally disconnect from main and be running on gen pending when the prepaid arrives. Is it not running gen like 4-3 hours every night? You always have a choice.

Simple and correct answer. Nobody is compelled to use private power. Your Gen can solve your problem of estimated billing.
