Joseph Olujimi Kolawole Agbaje is a pharmacist by training from the then University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife. A Scion of the Onilegbale Chieftancy family of Lagos and Lasuwon family in Ikorodu, He was raised from a humble background; Father a Banker and Mother a School Teacher.
He possesses veteran experience with over 3 decades as a practicing pharmacist. He served in many health management capacities in his early years as a pharmacist in Lagos State, and is currently the Managing Director of Jaykay Pharmaceutical & Chemical Company Ltd. which is responsible for the manufacturing and distribution of pharmaceuticals across the country. He is a Fellow, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (FPSN); Fellow, West African Post Graduate College of Pharmacists (FPCPharm); Merit Award Winner (MAW), Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (Lagos State).

Mr. Agbaje has also held various professional appointments which include National Chairman, Nigerian Association of General Practice Pharmacists (1990 – 1993), Chairman, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (Lagos State) 1994 – 1997, Chairman, 1994 National Conference Planning committee of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, National Secretary Nigerian Association of General Practice (1987-1990), just to mention a few.

He has participated in various International programs including the Executive Management Program at the Wits Business School, Johannesburg & Cape Town Business School, South Africa; World Health Organization training course on Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) in the Pharmaceutical sector; UNICEF Oral Rehydration Therapy program (train the trainer course).

He worked with other concerned professionals such as Prof Pat Utomi, Dr Ayo Ighodaro, Asue Ighodalo, Billy Lawson, Oby Ezekwesili in a movement that kicked against the Abacha government. This led to his becoming a part of the Socio-Political Movement - Afenifere Group and becoming the National Treasurer. He was also Coordinator of the Afenifere Renewal Group (ARG), Lagos chapter.

Based on his affiliation with Afenifere, he joined the Action Congress (AC), his first political party. In 2007, Agbaje who had initially aspired to contest for the Governor of Lagos State on the platform of the Action Congress (AC) left the party to join the Democratic People's Alliance (DPA). He was among the 11 aspirants that turned their back on the Action Congress (AC) when it was alleged that Governor Bola Tinubu had already anointed someone else to succeed him even before the party primaries. Widely believed to have conducted the best campaign in 2007, Agbaje contested in gubernatorial election on the Democratic People's Alliance (DPA) platform, but eventually, alongside other major contenders - Musiliu Obanikoro of PDP, Femi Pedro of Labour Party - lost to Babatunde Raji Fashola of the Action Congress (AC).

He left DPA in 2011 and went on to join the ruling party, the People's Democratic Party, PDP, following the de-registration of DPA by the Independent National Electoral Commission. On October 29, 2014, he officially indicated his interest in giving the Lagos State gubernatorial elections another shot by picking up the PDP nomination form. On 8 December 2014, it was reported that he emerged as the candidate of the People's Democratic Party, PDP for the 2015 Lagos State gubernatorial election, having defeated Musiliu Obanikoro - the former Minister of State for Defence - in the primary.

Committed to the Principle of Good Governance, Jimi Agbaje is a member of the Save Nigeria Group (SNG). He is also a Faculty Member, African Centre of Leadership, Strategy & Development (Centre LSD) and a Patron of the Catholic Youth Organisation of Nigeria (CYON), Archdioceses of Lagos. He founded the Jimi Agbaje Outreach (a Project dedicated to helping the less fortunate step on the first rung of the ladder of development).

Jimi Agbaje married his College sweetheart (Abiola Agbaje - a lawyer) in 1982 and they are blessed with three children. Yesterday, the 2nd of January was their 33rd wedding anniversary.

Jimi Agbaje is not a stooge of Bode. He sought after all the PDP leaders in Lagos and convinced them to support his campaign. None of them are sponsoring him. As a matter of fact he has been sponsoring party activities in Lagos state.

You conveniently ignored the part where Bola Tinubu anointed someone else before the primaries. That is enough grounds to leave the party. DPA was de-registered by INEC. What would you have him do? The Nigerian constitution does not allow for independent candidates. And with the PDP he stands the best chance to win the election. There's nothing unstable about him sir. Try another one.
