President Goodluck Jonathan has suspended the inauguration of his presidential campaign committee billed to hold at 2:00pm today, following the death of his junior sister, Mrs. Nancy Jonathan-Obei.

The dignitaries who had gone to the Legacy House, the president’s campaign headquarters in Maitama waited until 3:00pm for the arrival of the president, only to be told that the inauguration had been suspended.

Special Adviser to the president on Political Matters, Prof. Rufai Alkali who announced the suspension of the inauguration said in view of the death of the president’s sister, the campaign organisation has decided to suspend the inauguratin.

He said the inauguration has, accordingly, been shifted to tomorrow 11pm.

Alkali urged the gathering to observe one minute silence for the late Nancy.

A terse statement by special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati on Sunday night had noted that the late Nancy died on Sunday at the age of 52 in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State after she briefly fell Ill.

Abati’s statement which was made available to LEADERSHIP yesterday evening reads: “President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan announces with deep sorrow, the passing away of his beloved junior sister, Mrs. Nancy Jonathan-Olei.

“Mrs. Jonathan-Olei passed away earlier today at a hospital in Yenagoa after a brief illness. She was 52 years old. Burial arrangements will be announced later by the family.”.

We truly sympathies with the president and his entire family for this great loss and our sincere condolence.
But Food For Thought without bias: The President and PDP could Postpone the Inauguration of his Campaign Team because it affects him Directly but they could not do same on several occasions when many innocent Nigerians where killed as a result of bomb blasts na to start dancing SHOKI abi na wetin dem call d dance . God is watching!
