They say lawyers are like priests in the temple of justice , and the last hope of mankind in the society. Now, what will happen to the society if the future lawyers are trained with injustice and inadequacy while in school. You don't expect someone to give you what he/she does not have. The Nigerian law school preach justice but does not show it in their conduct.
The November 2014/2015 BAR 2 lectures started on 24th nov. Only candidates that has been given "full admission" are required to register and resume lectures. Up still this day (9th of january) while some students are busy attending lectures (since 24th november) and getting use to the school environment and library, some others are still at home because their admission statue is still "pending". And the painful of it all is that you have no way of knowing why your admission is been delayed. You can send thousands of email messages, but will get no reply. And when you call the helpline, someone will answer the call but after you have explain your problem to him, he ends the call without replying you, and when you call back , your call will be ignored.
It is a well known fact that Nigerian law school Examination is one of the hardest in the world, judging from the marking scheme and rate of failure in the past examinations. Yet, the school has showed their inadequacy and reckless attitude toward the betterment of students.
I think this behavioural attitude of the Nigerian law school is due to the fact that they are not being watched. The human right groups, NGOs and even the society at large see the school as the almighty lord of perfection and justice. For the interest of justice system in Nigeria, the law school should be keep under crucial watch; the society should stop overlooking and undermining the cries and complains of the students who allege that injustice has been perpetrated on them by the almighty Nigerian law school, rather, they should investigate and find out the true. If the law students are trained to flow with injustice , irregularities and inability to speak out and upheld justice; the society will suffer the consequences in the future, because this same law student will become our judges, magistrates and SAN in the future.
Let's put hands together and give Nigeria is better future. The future begins now.
