Enforcement of the Withdrawal Policy of Students with CGPA Below 1.0 Latest information reaching us has it that the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Owerri, (FUTO) Imo State, Prof C. C. Asiabaka has emphasized on his determination in restoring the original policy of the university, whereby students with Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of below 1.0 at the end of Year 1 (100 Level) are withdrawn from the institution.

Prof Asiabaka, while speaking with the University Senate, stated that full measures have been put in place to ensure that only students that have the mental capacity to cope with the academic rigor of the institution are retained. However, Prof. Asiabaka equally noted that students who have a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of less than 1.0 are still allowed to continue registration of courses without caution by the Department. He urged Deans and Heads of Department to ensure that deficient students are detected and flushed out of the institution.
