Don’t Militarise Elections, Aregbesola Warns Jonathan by bugs1: 10:42am On Jan 15, 2015 |
Osun State governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has warned President Goodluck Jonathan against militarisation of the forthcoming elections to avoid violence. Speaking at a one-day sensitisation workshop organised by the Presidential Committee on Small Arms and Light Weapons (PRESCOM) on proliferation of small arms and light weapons in Nigeria in collaboration with the Osun State government, Aregbesola said all registered political parties should be given a level playing ground. Aregbesola who was represented by his deputy chief of staff, Mr. Gbenga Adebusuyi while speaking on the theme: “Ballot Without Bullets”, said “If we all want ballots and not bullets, there must be a level playing field for all the political parties. “We are on the march again. Elections are here. The state must also de-escalate and de-militarise elections. If we take out these two factors, we will be able to clean our streets and communities of small arms and light weapons. Then, our elections will be free of violence.” Aregbesola who recalled that the recently concluded August 9, 2014 governorship election in the state was conducted with lots of impunity, said “The heavy deployment of the military to the state before, during and after the election was criminal and absurd.” Read Full Story http://monitor9ja.com/2015/01/dont-militarise-elections-aregbesola-warns-jonathan/ |

Where in the world is the military use in elections? PDP will only use the army to their own advantage, just like it was done in Osun. All APC executives were arrested and detained before the day of election and released the after election. I witness this, I wasn't told. Where is it done? |

They want to kill Youth corps members again? Of the 5 state elections were soldiers were deployed to ensure safety of the voters, only one was won by PDP. They lost in Ondo, Edo, Anambra and Osun, only won Ekiti, so why is APC still afraid of seeing soldiers? They just want to have a field day killing people. SMH. |
