Nigerian singer Kiss Daniel ought to go down as one of the most smart entertainers in the country.
The singer who has scored a major hit with the increasing success of his ‘Woju’ single, left his tertiary school with honours, graduating with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.3.
“When I was in school, people thought I was a gangster. When people check results, they keep asking, ‘Daniel, won’t you check your results, they keep saying that people like this, they never check their results.
“When I graduated, I remember that day that we have to go in there (an office), and get your certificate with a stamp on which will bear your exact result. Coming out, people thought I’ll be all sad and downcast, as they saw it, everyone was surprised.
“When I was in school, I was very serious. I was doing music low-key, but I didn’t joke with my books. My dad loves me for that, that’s why he respects me.
Kiss Daniels is currently working on the remix of his ‘Woju’ single, with Davido and Tiwa Savage working set to feature on it. With all of these happening, he still owes it to his sound education, and is of the opinion that a good formal learning process is primary for a fulfilling life.
“That’s why I always tell youths out there that if you want to do music, that doesn’t mean you should drop out of school. Get this thing (degree) first, get a sound education, then go into music. Education is paramount, trust me. No matter what you want to do, even if you want to become a trader, you still need education.”
