Lets Talk Organic Farming by Nobody: 8:22am On Jan 20, 2015
I have observed some farmers(both animal and plant) on the internet especially in developed countries assert that they are organic farmers. I see this as a marketing strategy cos of the way they display the advert. What exactly is organic farming? what are the practices? what are the challenges? Can an organic farmer compete with a non organic in the market?

I know one organic farming practise for crops- Using animal manure as fertilizer. Experienced farmers, can u compare the output from both?

Please lets contribute.

Organic farming is a topic am addicted to! Organic farming pays more as na ajebutters be your customers. l work with some Rev. Sisters who run organic strawberry farms using waste water from fish ponds & rabbit urine. Europeans are their customers.

I am almost completely an organic farmer. I preach and teach organic farming. to be honest, it's more profitable especially in small scale farming like what we practice in Nigeria. but in Nigeria organic farming is not that profitable, because people don't know the difference and they don't care either (except ajebutters).

I have visited the Songhai Farms in Porto Novo and I'm highly impressed with what they are doing in propagating organic farming. The market women I chatted with say the locals are now clamouring for organic produce. I believe with cancer ravaging our population, the awareness will deepen. Please give more information on the Organic Farmers association(s) / Network. I will like to learn more and join. Thanks.

Organic farming is really broad, it's the best way to give back to nature. Conventional farming techniques destroys the soil biodiversity and obviously has a lot of attendance issues that bothers generally on well being of consumers.
