I got this off Chxta Bee's Facebook page. Chxta is a seasoned journalist.

Let's not sweat it, the whole Buhari certificate saga was just a distraction aimed at getting us to look in another direction as against focusing on the key issue, which is this: an election such as this, with a sitting President up against a challenger IS a referendum on his first term.

The President, should be coming to defend his record based on what he promised us, not telling us about Buhari's certificate, phone number, health, or Jim Nwobodo's theft. In 2011, GEJ, while on the campaign trail, made 97 promises to the Nigerian public. How do these promises stack up against our current reality?

/97 - He promised to complete the Lagos-Jebba rail project. The rail goes to Kano these days. On that, GEJ has delivered.

/97 - GEJ promised to revive the rail system in Nigeria. Parts of it work these days, so we can say this is in the works.

/97 - GEJ promised to resuscitate the dead Nigeria Machine Tools. On that he has not delivered, so we can mark that as a fail.

/97 - GEJ promised to make Akanu Ibiam Airport an International Airport. Like it or not, he has fulfilled that promise.

/97 - GEJ promised to seek alternative funding to fix the Benin-Lagos road. The road is half done (up to Ore). So that is WIP.

/97 - GEJ promised he will modernise our ports. I go to Tin Can a bit, nothing has changed. I hear the others are worse. Fail.

/97 - He promised to give the Sokoto-Kontagora road full attention. Work on the road, last I checked, is still in progress.

/97 - GEJ, in Feb 2011, promised to complete the 2nd Niger Bridge BEFORE the end of his tenure in 2015. He has failed there.

/97 - GEJ promised to get his Minister of Works to immediately rehabilitate the road to Murtala Mohammed International. Fail.

/97 - On campaign in Yobe, GEJ promised to turn all roads leading to Damaturu to federal roads. That has not happened.

/97 - In March 2011, GEJ promised to assist Kano in resuscitating the dead industries in that city. Still work in progress.

/97 - GEJ promised to set up a committee to look at FG/state property in Lagos & hand over. We still have the FG/LASG fights.

/97 - GEJ promised to construct more dams for hydro-power. Dams are being built, so I'd say he's delivered on this promise.

/97 - GEJ promised to deliver, in his words: "stable and constant supply of electricity". My gen just coughed at that. Fail.

/97 - GEJ at a rally in Lagos promised "stable power by 2015 so SMEs can thrive again". My SME spends 165k per month on power.

/97 - GEJ, in Enugu, promised that by 2015, Nigerians won't use their gens more than twice a week. That one, is a big fail.

/97 - On campaign, he promised to ensure that coal deposits in Benue and Kogi were exploited to improve power. Not happened.

/97 - GEJ promised to reduce the import of generators by 90% by 2015. Generator imports have gone up since that time. Fail.

/97 - GEJ promised that by end of 2011, power generation would have hit 4747MW. Our all time high was 4517MW in 2012. Fail.

/97 - He promised that he will put an end to epileptic power supply just like "we put an end to fuel queues". Big fail.

/97 - GEJ promised to work with the private sector to stimulate economic growth. This he has been working on, so it is WIP.

/97 - GEJ promised to introduce 5-year budgeting. This, becaus of the NASS, has not happened. Lesson, think before promising.

/97 - GEJ promised to diversify the economy. To be honest, the economy is being diversified, it's no small journey. Pass.

/97 - He promised that by 2015, both Ajaokuta Steel and Itakpe Iron Ore would have been revived. They have not been. Fail.

/97 - He promised to get the industries in Lagos up and running, and bring industry to the Niger Delta. That is still WIP.

/97 - He promised to use agric to diversify the nation's economy. That is happening. But it is still Work In Progress.

/97 - He promised to reduce production costs by inviting more manufacturers in. Cost of production have not gone down. Fail.

/97 - He promised to create 1.5 million new jobs by 2013. According to NBS, we created 2.5 million jobs in 2012 and 13. Pass

/97 - He promised to transform the economy by 2015. While the economy has started diversifying, still too reliant on oil. WIP

/97 - he promised to settle all property issues with the Lagos state government. FERMA/FMWH have not let this happen. Fail.

/97 - He promised to include MAN, NACCIMA, etc in the process of creating economic policy. This has happened. Pass.

/97 - He promised to review import guidelines to stimulate local manufacture. Well, some of it is working, not all of it. WIP

/97 - He promised to create wealth by intervening in several areas. Nigeria has the 3rd largest number of poor people. Fail

/97 - He promised to create jobs by funding SMEs. Depending on who you talk to, YouWIN is doing just that. WIP.

/97 - He promised to create a suitable environment to grow the economy. I'd say this is WIP because we are improving slowly

/97 - This may sound repetitive: he promised to improve the lot of women in the economy. Again, I can point only to YouWIN

/97 - He promised to attract $25 billion investment into our gas infrastructure. That is happening, not complete. WIP.

/97 - GEJ promised that by 2015, the PIB would have been passed. Again, lesson on making promises outside your powers. Fail.

/97 - He promised to invest in research for petrochemicals and mining. With the Institute at Warri, that's in the works.

/97 - He promised to construct "2 world class petrochemical plants, 2 fertilizer plants, 2 blending plants" still waiting.

/97 - He promised $10 billion in investment in our gas industry by 2014. Investment came, but not to that amount. Fail.

/97 - He promised to establish a petrochemical plant in Koko. He repeated that promise in 2013. It has not happened yet.

/97 - He promised to build a $3 billion gas facility in Obiaruku, Delta state by 2012. This is 2015, it hasn't happened.

/97 - He promised that by 2015 we will be exporting refined petroleum products. "How can we be importing kerosene?" Epic fail.

/97 - He promised to create 600,000 jobs in the gas industry after establishing these plants. The plants haven't come. Fail.

/97 - He promised to boost gas supply to 100 billion cubic feet per day by 2020. We can't hold him to this, so it is WIP.

/97 - GEJ promised to revive marketing boards to make sure that farmers aren't cheated on sales of their produce. Huge pass.

/97 - GEJ promised silos would be built so produce will last longer after harvest. Silos have been built, more coming. Pass.

/97 - He promised to build dams for irrigation to maximise our land potential. This, I will classify as Work in Progress .
/97 - He promised to provide farmers with more information to enable them be more effective. Another huge success.

/97 - He promised to make each state specialise in at least two crops. This ambitious promise is on the way. WIP.

/97 - He promised to embark on irrigation projects, specifically in Kwara. This is work in progress

/97 - He promised easier access to loans for farmers. This has happened with some of the schemes by Akin Adesina. Huge pass.

/97 - 35% women representation in ministerial and diplomatic appointments. On that he delivered.

/97 - GEJ promised to rebuild the Ilesa Water Scheme. He delivered. Aregbesola thanked him personally. Huge pass.

/97 - GEJ promised to complete the Ife/Ijesa Dam. Last time I checked, work is ongoing, so we can chuck this one under WIP.

/97 - He promised to provide sufficient water to the people of Taraba. WIP. That's the only state I haven't been to BTW...

/97 - He promised to complete the Mambilla Dam and eradicate poverty in Taraba state as a result. Dam is still WIP.

/97 - GEJ promised, in Gombe, to ensure hydro carbon resources in the north are fully exploited. This is WIP, hampered by BH

/97 - GEJ promised to revamp mining in the Jos Plateau. Again, this is happening, slower than it should, so we can say WIP

/97 - GEJ promised to make solid minerals a key revenue earner for the country. > 90% of govt. revenue still from oil, WIP

/97 - GEJ promised to bring in investors to the Niger Delta to establish industries. There is Natore, so I'll give a pass.

/97 - GEJ promised that by 2015 the East-West road will be complete, and there will be railways & export. Let's just say WIP.

/97 - GEJ promised that he will work with Liyel to ensure that by 2015 Tinapa is "vibrant and productive". The place is dead.

/97 - GEJ promised that the problems arising as a result of ceding Bakassi to Cameroon will be sorted. I'd give this WIP.

/97 - The President promised to establish a federal university in each state of the nation but have they started classes? WIP.

/97 - He promised to improve hostel facilities across schools in Nigeria. This one will come to pass one day in future. Fail.

/97 - GEJ promised to revamp the Almajiri Educational system. We've been told that 150 Almajiri schools we built, so WIP.

/97 - GEJ promised to work towards improving the education sector so that the economy will improve. Falling standards - fail.

/97 - GEJ promised to improve the teaching & learning environments in the universities. This hasn't happened, ask ASUU. Fail.

/97 - GEJ said by 2015, every Nigerian of school age will be in school. We've the largest number of out of school kids. Fail.

/97 - GEJ promised to facilitate a Bill giving constitutional backing to monarchs. As far as I know, this has happened. Pass.

/97 - GEJ promised tax reform so that incidents of multiple taxation will stop forthwith. There's a Bill in the National Assembly. WIP.

/97 - GEJ promised, in 2011, that Nigerian Customs will conform to global best practices in 4 years. Those criminals! Fail!

/97 - He promised to run a government committed to equity for all. Well, it's hard to judge this, so I'll give it WIP.

/79 - He promised to lead by example in the anti-graft war. Then on national TV we were told that "I don't give a damn". Fail.

/97 - He promised to build a dynamic economy. To be honest, this seemed good until four months back with the oil prices. Fail.

/97 - GEJ promised to eradicate kidnappings in the South-East of Nigeria. That has happened, kidnappings a thing of the past.

/97 - GEJ promised to make anyone caught breaching public peace face the full wrath of the law. Ombatse cult are free. Fail

/97 - GEJ promised to make sure that no part of the country will be safe for criminals. Let's take a tour of Isiohor in Benin

/97 - GEJ promised to transform the national security architecture, but has left Alex Badeh in office. Epic fail.

/97 - we were told that "I will confront ethno-religious violence all over Nigeria." This has been on the rise recently. FAIL

/97 - We were promised there will be no sacred cows in the fight against corruption. Alams, Stella, Bode, Moro. EPIC FAIL

/97 - We were promised no interference in corruption cases. When Femi Fani-Kayode agreed to change pants, his case slowed down. Fail

/97 - He promised to strengthen both EFCC and the ICPC. This has not happened, they've become weaker. Fail.

/97 - He promised 2 use "modern methods" to tackle political violence. I wonder whether these include forgiving Ombatse. Fail

/97 - He promised to "pursue all bombers and terrorists". The way things look now, they're the ones pursuing us. EPIC FAIL!

/97 - GEJ promised not to discriminate based on ethnicity and religion. I'll give him this one. He passes.

/97 - GEJ promised to run an all inclusive government. Some people are complaining of marginalisation, but he's tried. Pass.

/97 - GEJ promised to run an open government. I've tried accessing info under the FOI, no show. As a journalist, I'll say fail.

/97 - GEJ promised to conduct free & fair elections. Elections have improved under his watch. Tempted to say WIP, but, pass.

/97 - He promised to make Nigeria an indivisible entity and bring development to every cranny. On this he has not delivered.

/97 - He promised to stand for national unity. When I saw that, I remembered the "my people" comment of October 2010. Fail

/97 - To fight corruption regardless of who is involved. We've looked at this before, and I'd say it's a fail (again)

/97 - To compensate people displaced by the construction of dams in Niger state. This one is ongoing, so it falls under WIP.

/97 - GEJ promised to commit to politics without bitterness and started well. But his actions last year let him down. Fail.

/97 - GEJ promised justice for all Nigerians. 276 names from Chibok, Christian Ibekwe, Ademola Aderinde. They demand justice!

Final tally: GEJ made 97 promises. He has delivered on 18 of them. 31 of the promises are still on the way, while he has failed to deliver 48 of these.
