Akure—TWO younggirlshave reportedly been killedin the farm by suspected ritualistsat Iju inAkure North Local Government Areaof Ondo State.
The communityhas subsequentlybeen throwninto mourning, followingdeath of the two girls, identified asOyinkansola Owoeyeand Folasade Bello
Policesourcestold Vanguard in Akure that both girls, aged 12, reportedlywent to the farm to fetch firewood but never returned.
A search party was organisedby their parentsand relatives after waiting endlesslyfor theirreturn
Theirlifeless bodies,inflictedwith machetes cuts, were later foundby the road sideon the way to the farm.
Sourcesadded that beside themachetes cuts all over theirbodies, it was also discoveredthat their bloodhad been allegedly drainedby their assailants suspected to beritualists.
Contacted,Police imagemaker, Wole Ogodo, confirmed their death, but however said they were killedby unknown assailantsin the town.
He said: “Wereceivedinformationthat the two girls, Oyinkansolaand Folasade, went to the bush to fetch fire wood where they met theiruntimelydeath last Saturday.
“ Ourdetectives have visited thescene of the crime, while photographsof the corpseswere taken as the corpses had been removedand deposited at the mortuary of the State SpecialistsHospital for autopsy “.
The policeimage maker said no arrest had been made by the policeas regardsthe death of the girls
“ We, hereby, appeal to thepeopleof the state to fieldthe command with any useful informationthat couldlead to the arrest of the criminals.Such informationwillbe treated with utmostconfidentiality,” Ogodo said
