After AITNew's failed attempt to deceive Nigerian youths with their evidence of having been hacked ,so to speak, it should become clear to every Nigerian youth that we are continuously been underestimated, and that our collective voices will only get heard when it sings to the rhythm of “the beat”. This is not an attempt to deliberately promote one candidate over the other but to demonstrate that every Nigerian has a right to choose whichever candidate they please regardless of what a neighbor , brother, sister or perceived foe may think. Sentiment analysis has been used for years to gauge public opinion and predict election results. Twitter in particular is the go to platform for carrying out such analysis. Twitter provides an API (a way to request public/private data) which can be used to download publicly available tweets regarding a personality, event or group. Predicting Elections with Twitter: What 140 Characters Reveal about Political Sentiment.(A Tumasjan, TO Sprenger, et al) Sentiment analysis has been used in US, Belgian, Pakistani, Italian and French elections to gauge public opinion. In simple terms, sentiment analysis works by analyzing a tweet and assigning a negative or positive value to it. Topsy.com provides free sentiment analysis for twitter tweets.
