Police Set Up Investigative Team, Deploys 16 Cps by iwaeda: 3:20pm On Feb 04, 2015
Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba, has constituted a Special Investigative Team, to investigate electoral offences during the forthcoming general elections.

The team would be headed by the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Force Legal/Prosecution Department.

A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel Ojukwu in Abuja on Wednesday, said Abba announced this during a conference he held with Commissioners of Police and other senior officers at the Force Headquarters on Monday.

It stated that the IG reiterated the preparation and readiness of the Nigeria Police Force to ensure free, fair credible and violence-free elections as well as adequate security of lives and property before, during and after the elections.

The Force urged politicians, stakeholders and other political actors to “play the game according to the rule.”

The statement reads, “The Police High Command uses this medium to appeal to Nigerians for calm and orderliness at the poll while reassuring them of the Force preparedness to perform its constitutional and statutory responsibilities of providing adequate security for the nation and the entire citizenry.”

Meanwhile, the Police Service Commission has approved the immediate redeployment of 16 CPs as part of efforts to reposition the Force for optimal performance.

Affected in the exercise is the Command Commissioner of Police for Ekiti State, Fredrick Lakanu who has been moved to Ogun State Command.

Others include, Ibrahim Idris,( Police Mobile Force, FHQ, Abuja) now moved to Kano State Command; Musa Mohammed, from NIPSS, Jos to Oyo State Command; Usman Abubakar, from NIPSS, Jos to Jigawa State Command; Olufemi Ogunbayode, from NIPSS, Jos, to Zamfara State Command; Mohammed Usman, from M.S ‘F’ Dept. FHQ to Nasarawa Command and Nyats Jatau, from Railway Command, Lagos to Taraba State Command.

Also affected by the transfer exercise are Mohammed Mohammed, from Police Staff College, Jos, to Bauchi Command; Karma Hassan, from Anambra State Police Command to Rivers State Command; Joshak Habila, from Counter-Terrorism Unit, FHQ to Abia State Command; Salisu Abdullahi, from Special Fraud Unit, FHQ to Sokoto State Command; and Damilola Adegbuyi from SFU, FHQ to Edo State Command.

Others are Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi, from Interpol FCID, FHQ to Ekiti State Command; Dibal Yakadi from second in command to CP Anambra State Command; Tonye Ebitibituwa, CP ‘A’ R&P FHQ Abuja to Cross River State Command and Danladi Mshelbwala, CP EOD FHQ, Abuja to CP Kebbi State Command.
