Breaking News On Hiv Treatments In Nigeria by ToddTerry: 4:06pm On Aug 22, 2006
There was a recent story here in Vancouver regarding Canadian doctors who have been travelling to various villages in Nigeria using their own money to provide expensive cutting edge HIV fighting drugs (the same drugs Magic Johnson takes that has prolonged his life for more than 16 years!!) to children and young adults.  However, very sadly, the doctors are having trouble administering the medicines because in many of the villages the people will not take the medicines and instead are relying on witchcraft and various concotions.  Some doctors complained that in some villages "rich" witchdoctors or phony doctors feel threatened and that their livelihood could be at stake and actually prefer the children to suffer from the efefcts of HIV because they make more naira.  Please tell me what is going on and how the Canadian doctors can help teach people that the drugs really do work and will save lives.  many of these doctors have given up $800,000 CD per year careers and spend their own money to help these children yet they get demonized and in one case, attacked by the villagers.  What is going on?

Thank you.

Well, i can't deny the fact that the Witch doctors do exist and itz actually a sad story but who goes to witch doctors these days?
people seem to be a lot smarter than that, though there are people who still go to them in very rural villages but itz very rare.

please can you give us the source of your information?
