Sepp Blatter has confirmed that FIFA are to investigate Manchester United due to match fixing and corruption in the club which is believed to have started in 1986, the same year as Alex Ferguson arrived at the Salford club. "Manchester United are believed to have 'fixed' several hundred matches since 1986, including the 1999 and 2008 Champions League finals and multiple league games" said Sepp Blatter. He also said that an investigation was launched in 2009 but several FIFA members refused to co-operation with the investigations due to twitter threats by Manchester United fans. Highly ranked referee, Howard Webb has confirmed that Alex Ferguson attempted to pay him to fix games several times but refused every time and then said the only reason he hasn't spoken out before is because he was afraid of the hit men Alex Ferguson hired. This isn't the first time Manchester United have been investigated for match fixing, an high profile investigation was launched in 1973 which resulted in Manchester United being guilty, having 4 league titles and 3 Europeans Cups taken away from them and were then demoted to the 2nd division. Investigations are also being launched into the transfers of Luis Anderson, Paul Scholes and Ruud van Nistelrooy, all of whom claimed that they were about to sign for Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool respectively until Alex Ferguson sent men to their homes to make sure that they signed for United or else their families would pay the price. thoughts? |
