but that there are issues outside INEC's control such as security and that they work hand in gloves with the security departments and it will be unconscionable for INEC to undermine security advice and forge ahead with an election which the security can not guarantee safety.

after careful deliberations with various stakeholders, INEC has decided to abide by the advice from the security department and he sighted the constitutional sections that empowers INEC to postpone elections based on certain variables such as the issue of security.

he said that no matter the preparedness of INEC, if there is no security for its staff, election materials etc then going ahead to conduct such elections is meaningless.

he called on the security agencies to ensure that they keep to their own time frame and ensure adequate security
