I am neither a student of international affairs nor a member of the diplomatic circle of either Nigeria or the US, but the persistent and glaring Obama administration position on Nigeria is alarming, contradictory, and almost criminal at times.
The US position on Boko Haram vs ISIS is a clear study in self contradiction.
Hillary Clinton was noted to have told the World that BK was not a terrorist organisation, but some form of protest against unemployment and high rate of poverty. She has since been proved wrong!

Then, came John Kerry: his visit to Nigeria was also questionable. If he wanted to meet with President Jonathan and the opposition, why did he meet with only Buhari, when there are other presidential candidates like UPP and LP. There is no doubt that APC is a stronger opposition than other parties, but why did the visiting secretary of state have to make that determination? Otherwise, he could have met the president at a state level, and express whatever concern he had.

Let us not forget the US accusation of human right violation by Nigerian army, an accusation based on information based on "evidence" supplied by Boko Haram themselves! The same accusation was used by the Obama administration to deny and frustrate Nigeria from buying arms to fight BH! You clearly see how BH benefits from the administration of Barack Hussien Obama--it's not an accident.

We also know that former Obama community organizational staff and tools have been drafted to Nigeria to help support Buhari in this election, just like the same group are supporting an opposition party to Prime minister Netanyahu in Israel. It seems that those who fall out with Obama gets to fight for their political lives right from their home base, thanks to the Chicago group. Like Israel, Nigeria should take it's case directly to the American Congress and impress it upon John Bohner and other Republicans that Obama is up to no good!

It is also no coincidence that US and western press have been gushing for a Buhari presidency, despite Buhari's record as a dictator and human rights abuser. It's ok, 'he will change, or he has changed' they say, anybody is better than Jonathan. Like the 'economist' implied, any muslim from the north is inherently better than a poor performing christian Jonathan from the south. The 'economist', like Obama upped the ante on attacking Jonathan after he voted against the Palestinians at the UN.

Now, John Kerry is heart broken, because the Nigerian election is postponed to enable INEC fully distribute voting cards. John Kerry and the Obama people know the details of our problems here in Nigeria, yet they pretend otherwise. How would "democracy" work when most of the people of southern Nigeria are denied voting access? That is the question. And just like the fight against BK, the US refused to offer a real assistance in distributing these cards to voters, instead, they will tell us how deep disappointed they are, because the election has been postponed for a couple of weeks to enable more people obtain their voting cards.

John Kerry, Obama, and Hilary Clinton can't imagine a US national election where mostly democratic NY and MA voters are purposefully restricted from casting their votes in a presidential election, yet they have no problems pushing for similar position in Nigeria where southern voters most likely to vote PDP are denied voting card.
The Obama administration policies in Nigeria is neither good for Nigerians nor for democracy itself. This policy must be clearly understood and then resisted at all cost! GEJ should approach Republican leaders of congress for an alternative approach to Obama's criminal perspectives on Nigeria

I stopped reading this jargon when i gt to this point.

OP, can you please tell me the presidential candidate of APGA and LP ?

There is no room for Political naivety, any undecided electorate must pick a stand, the March 28 election is a movement to rescue powers from the hand of the current despoilers.

Yes APGA adopted GEJ as their candidate, but there are other parties the secretary should have met, you get the point and principles involved here.

For your mind now...you don talk sense abi. Meaningless article.

The reason why Jonathan postponed the election is simple...having realised from the feedback from the campaign that he would loose woefully to Buhari, in a free and fair election ,he needs time to perfect strategies to rig the election in collaboration with his usual accomplices....that is the reality.... the voice of the people is about to be silenced by the muzzle of the gun.

I hope the APC can come up with counter strategies to limit this.

There are only two contenders in the race, all others are pretenders, not knowing that APGA and LP do not have presidential candidates shows your political naivety. Your views are not worth a pinch of salt.

Jega was given many reason to delay the election, and if he chooses security as his priority, it doesn't mean other issues are irrelevant. The most common reason why an election would not be legitimate is if people are not allowed to voted for any reason, and yet you don't seem to care that a great proportion of the Nigerian electorate is being denied access to the polls via denial of PVCs?

OP. be informed that Kerry met with Mr. President.
It was at the same meeting the "riot act" was given to both political parties.
There is a thread with pictures on NL on the visit.
Kindly verify facts and claims before posting lest you mislead the uninformed reader.

First of all, Kerry's diplomatic level should not equal our president, we have a minister of foreign affairs he could have dealt with in the first place. They have no ground to read a riot act to Nigeria, especially since their position has been questionable from day 1.
Meeting the opposition is not akin to the US where you have 2 main parties established over the years, so if Kerry is coming to Nigeria, he should do so in the proper contex.
Even the GEJ administration is not clear about Obama's diabolical position on Nigeria, otherwise GEJ should not have met him so that he -John Kerry would have more time to spend with Buhari

This thread says that less than 50% have collected their PVCs in Lagos, and do you how many have "collected" their PVC in those troubled NE states? More than 95%! And you still want the election to hold in Lagos vs Borno?

Didn't bother reading your epistle what I did was correct the misinformation in your write up.
Kerry saw both the president and the presidential aspirant that's all.
By the way, i am in full support of election postponement but i am not interested in your flawed analysis as it already based on misconceptions.

Why was a different pvc distribution policy enacted for the north vs the south?
For the south, everybody must presents various forms of identification to prove who they are, where they live etc.
For the north, "because of high level of illiteracy" the chiefs, emirs, and imans are given all the pvc for 'distribution'
The result: 40% distribution rate for the south, and 99% distribution rate for the north, and you still wants north and south to participate in the same election at the same time

Ogas Obama, Kerry and Jamie Entwistle,
I was wondering if the better effort wouldn't be to give Liberia and Sierra Leone Z-MAPP medication to save all those countless Ebola victims.

Now a mind boggling 9,000 innocent Africans have died because nobody considers them human enough to get Z-MAPP anti-ebola treatment. If they were Americans, they will mysteriously get Z-MAPP treatment and survive, except ofcourse if they are African like Eric Duncan.
But Nigerian electoral postponement is the most important help Africa needs now?

Very good point.
US policy interventions are self serving and corrupt to say the least. It actually seems that they would rather have a failed Nigerian state, rather than a vibrant democracy capable of competing with them globally.
