PDP Women In Imo In Failed Bid To Burn Government House Owerri by ujoatu(m): 5:11pm On Feb 10, 2015 |
IMO STATE GOVERNMENT HOUSE PRESS RELEASE Armed Soldiers numbering more than one hundred Tuesday, February 10, 2015 stormed the Government House, Owerri and barricaded the main entrance with armoured vehicles on the order of the Junior Minister for Education, Prof. Viola Onwuliri. The soldiers on arrival caused stampede at the Government House as workers ran helter skelter for safety, but one young man was not all that lucky and was beaten to coma. On hearing about the soldiers’ action at the Government House, Owerri, women and youths numbering about five thousand stormed the Government House to confront the soldiers, but they were prevented from doing so by Senior Government officials around who pleaded with the youths and women not to confront the soldiers. As the situation was becoming choatic the Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha who was returning from Abuja arrived the scene and there was thunderous shouts of Owelle, Owelle, Owelle, by the women and youths. Addressing the crowd, the Governor said, “some of the PDP leaders led by Viola ‘Otuashi’ Onwuliri, the great liar of the century were behind all these. The woman that that claims the 305 schools belong to Federal government and some other PDP leaders who brought some women and some thugs who are dressed in women clothes. I also learnt that some of these people are not women, most of them are men who are dressed in women’s clothes to come here and destroy the Government House”. “Now it is obvious that what is happening in Nigeria is caused by the PDP. And again, it is obvious that the said Viola Onwuliri claimed that she has the support of the Presidency to organize this crime. Now, she claims that she is going for protest and the protest without being escorted by the Nigeria Police; but rather she used the army. The army gathered here and beat up the innocent children of Imo state. ” “Imo state is peace loving people, and I want to call on Mr. President to warn his minister and warn the leadership of PDP in Imo state to desist from this action, before they incur the wrath of the people. This reminds us of what happened in 2011 election where they tried to use the army and the Police and the SSS to rig the election. But let me tell them that they are making a big mistake. Not in Imo State.” “And again, thank you for protecting democracy. I didn’t know you can come out in such number within 2 seconds to protect democracy. I want to say that, the army has our respect and must never be used as an instrument to disrupt democracy in Nigeria. Now, if there is going to be a protest, police should be informed and police ought to escort those who are protesting. So it is obvious they came in here to set the Government House on fire. That was the intention of this woman who said it was the Presidency that has told her to use the army to commit this crime. And I am so surprised that at this point, no action has been taken neither from the police nor the army nor the SSS. Rather, they beat up and almost killed an innocent boy.” “ But we shall never allow evil men again to rule Imo state. My People! My people!!” “I want to thank you. And I am sure those women from Abia state, I want to warn them and the Abia state government not to allow their women again to be recruited into Imo state to cause crises as we are going to deal with then according to law.” “I also want to advise you that you should see these young officers and the young corporals as innocent. Do not hold them responsible. They only acted on the orders from above. So we should not make them our enemies. Which means, they are our brothers and sisters. They are only acted on instructions. But let them also tread with caution. Because this is the last time this will happen again in Imo state.” “I want to ask you to remain calm and the boy who was almost killed, this morning we shall take him to hospital and possibly fly him abroad to make sure he is well. My people! My people!” Sam Onwuemeodo Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Governor 1 Like 1 Share

Now we can begin to see how the Army are busy within this 6 weeks..... .....If the aim is trying real hard to provoke Nigerians to the street, it will fail because we are all patiently/peacefully waiting for 28th March... 2 Likes |

See how low a press release can be. Chai, I pity those who will swallow this concoction. Gov. Rochas Okorocha and his aids are becoming desperate, as much as I want him returned, he is beginning to exhibit these unethical traits of over-ambitious politicians. The contractors are on the road demonstrating against non payment for contracts executed and commissioned. The women are demonstrating with coffin and not violence. The more this type of press release, the more our amiable Governor loses sympathisers. 3 Likes |

Acts of Desperation! Earlier today, a large number of women dressed in black and numbering about 100+ trooped into Owerri in about 15 of 18 sitter buses. They assembled in front of Union Bank, Okigwe Rd branch. After a brief meeting, they brandished placards on which was written derogatory statements addressed to the person of Governor Owelle Rochas. They proceeded to Douglas House Entrance, causing traffic gridlock. They chanted songs in rhythm to their placards. They told people who cared to listen that they are widows from Imo and they have come to tell the world that Owelle has failed Imo state. Luck ran out on them when a keke driver sighted some of the women whom he knew. He called out to them and asked them why they left Abia state for Owerri to protest against Imo state Governor. He asked them why they could not protest against their Governor who has been unable to carry out a tangible project in Abia state yet they came this far to insult the best performing Governor in South East. When they could not give a cogent answer, other passengers in the keke who were already upset that these women who had caused a hitch in their plans for the day and were purported to be widows from Imo state, were not after all, who they appeared to be. Immediately, they alighted and asked the women to clear from the road, the women resisted and this led to a scuffle, other road users alighted and joined to chase the women off the road. Soon, women from Ekeonunwa market who got hint of the protest by the Abia women arrived alongside women from other communities, to Govt House ring road and helped to chase these women away. Some of these women from Abia state were questioned and they opened up in confidence that the Minister for State Education; Viola Onwuliri, had attempted mobilizing women from Imo state for the protest but Imo state women declined to because they love the best performing incumbent governor of Imo state and had nothing against him to protest for which was what led to mobilizing Abia women. Just as these Imo women and other road users were about dispersing, Soldiers from 34 Artillery Brigade Obinze, trooped in and began harassing people, detained some men in their waiting Hilux. They beat up some innocent pedestrians and dragged them into the waiting Hilux. At this point, the Imo women gathered again and began singing in praise of Owelle, also requested for them to release their detained children. These soldiers declined to, stating that they are acting on orders from above. The women were relentless as they stood their ground and continued chanting songs in praise of Owelle. It took the timely intervention of the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports, DG Rochas Campaign Organization and Hon Commissioner for Lands , before these soldiers released the wounded men in their custody. It did not last up to 10mins after these men were released that the amiable Governor Owelle Rochas arrived. He greeted the women and thousands of people who arrived while the situation escalated. They responded happily , cheering him. He went ahead to say that he was in Abuja this morning when he learnt of the situation and had to take the next available flight to Owerri in order to answer to his people. He reiterated that his love for the good people of Imo led him to abandon his mission in Abuja and came home. To this, the people assured him that there is no vacancy in Douglas House come this 2015. It could be recalled that a similar event occurred on 26th of last month when some hired thugs hijacked the endorsement rally organized by Imo state students, went on rampage in the guise of the students and destroyed property worth hundreds of millions in the state. PDP is desperate. # VotenotFight. An eye witness report 2 Likes |
