Indigenes and residents of Obio/ Akpor Local Government Area on Wednesday joined the rest of Rivers State to unanimously endorse Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike to take over the leadership of the state.

Also on Wednesday, the Obio/Akpor Council of Traditional Rulers formally endorsed the Wike-Banigo governorship ticket.

The endorsement of the traditional rulers was conveyed at a meeting by Eze Wolu Ejekwu after a meeting between them and. Barrister Wike. At the Obio/Akpor Governorship rally held at Bishop Crowther Memorial Secondary School, Obio Akpor thousands of the people pledged their support for the Wike-Banigo ticket.

Addressing the rally, Barrister Wike assured the people that he will end the era of official corruption in Rivers State and reposition the state towards the path of development.

He said that he will ensure that the funds that accrue to the state will be used to develop every segment of the state.

Barrister Wike said that he is aware of the enormity of the work to be done in Obio/Akpor and other local governments.

He recounted areas of mass corruption perpetrated by the outgoing Amaechi administration, saying that the bleeding of the state will not be allowed to continue.

“I assure the Obio/Akpor people that they will henceforth benefit from good governance as they will have quality projects executed in their communities.

“We will stop the corruption of the outgoing administration and use the resources of the state to develop basic amenities, empower our people and revive the economy of the state”

Wike said. Former Rivers State Governor, Sir Celestine Omehia said that Barrister Wike will take Rivers State to the next level of development.

Minister of Sports, Dr Tammy Danagogo said the mammoth crowd that graced the Obio/Akpor rally indicate that Obio/Akpor people have joined the rest of the state to issue a quit notice to Governor Amaechi and the APC.

Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Austin Opara, former Nigeria Bar Association President, OCJ Okocha and a former PDP Governorship aspirant, Senator Lee Maeba urged Rivers people to vote Barrister Wike in the interest of the development of the state.

Former Rivers State Governor, Dr Peter Odili attended the rally. Top Nollywood artistes, Patience Ozokwor, Tonto Dike, Monolisa Chinda and Victor Osuagwu endorsed Barrister Nyesom Wike at the rally. Simeon Nwakaudu,
