Before Sanusi Lamido left the throne of CBN (Central Bank of Nigeria) dollar was stable at around 160. The new CBN governor and the Co-ordinating Minister of the Economy (CME) seem clueless on how to tackle this free fall of our national currency, the Naira. These duo controls the monetary and fiscal instruments of this economy yet they cannot save the naira which has now fallen to its worst in the history of Nigeria.

When America predicted that this economy and as it were, the country will go down in 2015 many people thought that the Americans were speaking in tongues. These guys knew the economic coup detat they were going to stage with their Shale oil technology. Like a game of Chess, they knew when they were going to checkmate OPEC so as to force the price of oil down from $115 to $50. They knew that this was going to have adverse effect on a country like Nigeria whose main source of income is oil. Coupled with the do or die politics being practised at this clime, the year 2015 was predicted scientifically to be the year the chicken might come home to roast!

Now, every predictions from reliable sources are supposed to be taken seriously so as to avert the dooms day. But did our leaders do anything about it?
Starting from the president(GEJ) and his economic wiseacres, nothing concrete was done! Instead, we the Nigerian people have to now grapple with a devalued currency.

The implication of this devaluation for a country that is dependent on imports in layman term means HIGHER COST on many goods and services. For an impoverished society with little or no middle class, who is going to be able to afford buying these products? and if products are not sold, salaries would not be paid . . . staff will be laid off (UN-EMPLOYMENT) ... embargo will be placed on employment and the fate of millions who are un-employed or under-employed will be hanging (POVERTY).

The Americans saw these coming in an election year that was why they made that prediction.

Our leaders are not doing anything about this, shall we continue to fold our hands while the country continue to go down the drain?

A call for the removal of the GCBN and the CME should have rented the air by now if it was in a progressive and a no-nonsense country! but we are so docile in Nigeria. We dont follow our government closely to ensure we get value for our money. Resilience is the mother of frustration! Proactiveness is the father of Progress. These virtues are the dividing line between a developing and a developed country.

Nigerians! let us be proactive so that we can rescue this nation before we all go down with it!

If you want the governor of CBN and the Minister of the Economy to be removed from office asap, please click LIKE and SHARE this lamentations of a concerned Nigerian.

It's not all about d exchange rate. 1 USD = 120 Japanese yen. However, we need to do serious diversification of our revenues. The current oil price slump is just a warning. Very soon oyibo go discover a cheaper alternative and affordable fuel source. Your guess is as good as mine when this happens.
