Innoson Decries 40 Million Naira Electricity Bill by linusmark: 2:11am On Feb 18, 2015
The Managing Director and Chief Executive of Innoson Technical
and Industries Company Limited, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, has
decried the N40 million electricity bill which his company pays
monthly to the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EDDC),
saying such bill was too high to encourage an indigenous
manufacturer to continue with production. He said such huge
amount which the EEDC charges Innoson Industries as electricity
bill could not be an encouragement to any industrialist, especially
when the same company spends as much as N60 million to buy
diesel for the several generators located in various strategic
positions inside the manufacturing plant. The firm, which
manufactures high quality plastic products, also produces auto
vehicles. "We manufacture vehicles, not just assembling them,"
Chukwuma said. http://allafrica.com/stories/201502171155.html

First, Innoson Motors does not MANUFACTURE cars. They source car parts from manufacturers and assemble them here.

Secondly, paying 40 million Naira as electricity bill is not encouraging at all. They still spend well over that amount serving their power plants. No wonder most industries have either folded up or have relocated to other business friendly countries. The FG needs to really look into this if the dream of becoming a producing economy that relies more on export rather than import is to be realized.

Without constant power supply businesses will not thrive in this country. A dedicated government will fix power problem first and then see the magic that will bring to the country. Corruption has eaten so deep into every sphere of the society starting from the clueless ones @ the top. Corruption is the bane of the society. Now, Innoson is having their share of the bane in the society.

We need liberation.. Think people, THINK.

Something has to be done fast before all the industries in the east will relocate to other state or other country.

Here is the fact number one.
1. The south East have had the highest increment of service charge up to 95% compare to Lagos power company that have had only but 22% service charge increment since it was privatised. Which in either cases, the charges is still killing

2. The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company(EEDC) service charge increased by 100%, this increment took effect by January for companies and alike while that of household consumers will take effect by June, 2015.

3. The agreement was a 5% yearly increment plus or minus, this agreement the power distribution company had refused to abide by.

However, my assert is that their service charge should be uniform nationwide so that Nigerians can speak in one voice when things goes out of hand.

Enemy of progress from yoruba, Innoson manufacture cars completly not just to assemble. Go to Nnewi and see things for yourself.

lf he is financially capable, he should set up his own power plant. A German firm here in kenya built a biogas plant that generates 2.8MW at the cost of $6.5m which is not up to what some state governors and their entourage spend on a foreign trip!

You need to learn how to pass on your opinions without insulting other tribes. Why bring the Yorubas into this? Did I say I am a Yoruba man? And why would you conclude that Yoruba speaking people are *enemies of progress*? You write and reason like a child and I'll not oblige u any further but know that my earlier stance on Innoson Motors still stands till it is proved beyond reasonable doubt that he actually manufactures all vehicular components at his factory in Nnewi.

They should buy a small gas turbine and generate their own power and leave the Nigerian Electricity company.
Whenever they are ready to offer reasonable price you can revisit them. That's reaping the company off.
How will the company grow with this outrageous power bill. ...

Lets be reasonable here. Several other companies how left Nigeria because of the same reasons. High bills with irregular supply. Michelin and lots of textile industries closed down for same reason. Loose of Jobs and we keep turning out graduate we should talk about helping the situation and not making it worse
