Lagos - The Federal Government has approved the revocation of the licences of private jet owners who used their aircraft for commercial purposes, Punch reports.

The federal government said their licenses were revoked as they were contravening the private operations certificates issued to them by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.

A report that made available did not state the private jet owners whose certificates were to be revoked, it stated that 51 private jets operating under 27 operators were in the NCAA database.


Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka, stated that some operators of private jets in the country were beginning to threaten him as well as intimidate employees of the Federal Ministry of Aviation over the decision to bar them from operating commercial flights.

Nigeria will always do its own version in excess. Not every private jet owner is a thieving politician, some are business people who have to be on the move constantly and rent the jet out when they are not using it to pay off some of the jet cost. I have a feeling Chidoka will eat this approval in the end.
