A kinsman of President Goodluck Jonathan from Bayelsa State, Hon Donald Daunemigha yesterday filed a suit before the Federal High Court in Abuja against the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), seeking an order disqualifying him from participating in the March 28 poll.

The suit, which was filed by the counsel to Donald Daunemigha, Barr Douye Fiderikumo, also included INEC as 2nd defendant.

The suit is asking the court to issue an order declaring that the APC presidential candidate is not qualified to contest the election to the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria slated for March 28 having presented a forged certificate to INEC.

In the copy of the originating summons made available to newsmen in Yenagoa by the counsel, Douye Fiderikumo, the plaintiff is also seeking an order of perpetual injunction restraining INEC by itself or by its servants, agents or privies from recognising or treating or accepting the APC flag bearer, Mohammadu Buhari, as a candidate for the election.

An order disqualifying General Buhari from contesting the election to the office of President, Federal Republic of Nigeria,slated to hold on the 28th of March,2015 or such other time as the INEC may determine having presented a forged certificate to INEC.

According to the summon,the suit is seeking the determination of the following,”whether in view of the fact that Nigerian Army is not in possession of the West african School Certificate (WASC) 1961 of the 1st Defendat,the affidavit presented by the First defendant to the INEC does not anount to presentation of forged certificate within section 137(1)(j) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria .”

By this time, some so-called "literates" still don't know the difference between a statement of result and a certificate?? One would wonder how almost 5 cases are in court concerning this issue and none of them are producing results.
* Buhari never said his certificates were with the Military (He said his academic records which could mean anything - and of course his academic records were with the Military which they released some time ago)
* WASC or its equivalent is what is required as qualification to contest elections*
* One of the equivalents to WASC is serving in a Public Office for 10 years or more*
* Buhari having served Nigeria previously for more than 10 years is already qualified based on that*
* Notice also that in the constitution it clearly states everytime at the end of each statement - "as acceptable by INEC" meaning INEC has the sole authority to accept or reject any assumed qualification put forward by a candidate - not PDP, not this silly Ijaw man either.

These people can keep on fooling around.

I even wonder why this whole certificate scandal was left to lye low. Imagine a presidential candidate of a country like Nigeria with a population of over 170million people presenting an obviously fake result and nothing is being done about it and infact he is still even in the presidential race. This left me with no other option than the fact that there is definitely a bond between GMB/APC and The INEC. And they still say they want to bring change. Pls what do they want to change Nigeria to?
GEJ till the opposition presents a learned candidate.

He should rather invest his time in getting support for GEJ rather than focusing on buhari's case. I don't see him being disqualified. It won't be easy to pull that off at this time.

The others who took Buhari to court are not Jonathan's kinsmen. If I had money I would have done the same, there's no place for illiterates in Nigerian public life. We stopped illiterates from ascending to power through the use of coups in 1999.

Buhari should join his friend in sambisa, if they capture enough land they can both set up their caliphate there.

Nigerians don't want your son anymore. If you guys believe in his ability so much, make him your next governor so he can transform Bayelsa into the El dorado he's transformed Nigeria into. grin

Let the cases keep rolling in. I bet they are all part of the reason why Jonathan had to buy himself more time. Keep 'em coming!

Never seen a sitting president so afraid of a contest. If he had done his job dutifully, all these wouldn't have been happening and with all their propaganda, Buhari would have been nothing but a walkover. Jonathan spent all five years explaining the difference between corruption and stealing, granting state pardon to convicted crooks and giving them the status of "untouchables", dividing Nigerians along ethnic and religious lines, turning state security agencies into his personal thugs, abdicating his responsibilities and handing them over to two cheeky women, violating the constitution with reckless abandon, blaming everyone but himself for his failures, etc.

He thought he had until eternity to prove his mettle. He never thought this day would come. The thing about life and time is that when you are hiving such great fun especially an "all expense paid one", you never realise the passage of time. Jonathan never saw the clock ticking when he was busy globe trotting, meeting and shaking hands with people whose shoestrings he never thought he'd be privileged to tie!! He was simply carried away.

Now the day of reckoning is at hand and he's started thrashing like a fish out of water, running from pillar to post to save his hyde.

The president's action is akin to that of a man who keeps postponing the funeral of his deceased mother because of the love he has for her, but the problem is, no matter how much he postpones the funeral, his mom is NEVER gonna come back alive!!

If it's gej that is having certificate issue now. Apc e rats must have started posting what they know how to do best.
If buhari has certificate let him bring it out so as to satisfy our curiosity and if not let the law take its full course. It's not about sentiments it's about moving forward. Any change with status quo retaining is a farce.
