Re: Fifty Shades Of Grey Banned In Nigeria Cinemas Due To Sexual Content by nex(m): 9:41am On Feb 21, 2015
The NFVCB is supposed to screen movies BEFORE certifying it fit for viewing by the Nigerian public. I really don't understand this whole issue of unbanning, banning, unbanning, and rebanning. How exactly does the NFVCB work?!

P.S: Have you see it in 1080 HD? Oh blimey!

Smh.
They can simply rate it 18. How do you ban it like the country is filled with kids, dunno how their lame system works. Its pretty LAME!

No, it's not lame. Really. I'm happy we even have a censor board that's paying attention.
Adults are welcome to whatever they're interested in, but there's no need to cram such filth down our throats by putting it on display in the cinemas. It'll only cost about 100 Naira or so to buy the cd.

I honestly don't get this idea of banning a movie from the cinemas when there are clearly designated age ratings for such movies. If full grown adults above the age of 18 want to go and spend their money watching explicit content in a cinema, then that is their business. The censors board should be more concerned with ensuring that cinemas enforce the age restrictions so that minors are not exposed to such content. Banning the movie will only make it seem like some forbidden apple and thus increase people's interest in wanting to see it. Don't the censor's board get that?

You're kinda contradicting yourself sister. You can choose what movie you and even your kids want to watch at the cinemas, so no one is cramming it down anyone's throat. And cinema staff can ensure that age ratings are enforced. Monitoring who buys what CD/DVD at N100 as you put it is even more difficult. Minors will purchase the DVD at Oshodi underbridge. That is even more dangerous.

Meechewwww! Thank God for torrent.

With all the problems in nigeria...they are worried about sexual content that caters to a more mature audience.

It's just sex and rubbish , my missus wanted to see it , I told her not with me she went to see it with her friends.

It's a film that puts the wrong ideas in peoples minds, I still detest the movie , given I am liberal
