Human Rights activists say tens of thousands of labourers are being forced to work in terrible conditions and having their wages confiscated
Poor North Koreans are being sent to work as 'state-sponsored slaves' to pay for luxury goods for Kim Jung-un's regime, it has been claimed.
According to human rights activists, 100,000 people are reported to have been sent abroad to work often in terrible conditions.
Their wages are then confiscated and used to boost the coffers of the mad-cap leader.
It is believed the situation has been ongoing since the 1980s, but has got progressively worse under Jong-un.
South east Asia, China, Africa, and the Middle East are all reported to have received workers from North Korea, but Russia is said to be the largest recipient with around 25,000 labourers.
Many end up working long, gruelling hours in sweatshops, building sites and logging sites.
Campaign groups, who say the working conditions are tantamount to 'slavery', added that money is being used to buy luxuries for Jung-on's 'elite followers' and finance the recent building boom in Pyongyang to show off his leadership.
According to the Daily Express, Ahn Myeong-chul, head of Seoul-based rights group NK Watch, said the country's regime was “exploiting their labour and salaries to fatten the private coffers of Kim Jong-un.”
Human Rights activists have now called for United Nations to look into the situation.
The claims come as the North Korea leader, who rose to power in 2013, almost sent Twitter into meltdown after he showcased his new haircut.
The new 'do was ridiculed around the world with comparisons made to Vanilla Ice and Donald Trump.
And it is set to be widely copied, as last year reports from the country claimed men had been instructed to adopt a 'Dear Leader' haircut in the ruler's honour.
