CHIEF CHEKWAS OKORIE, UPP: Okorie is the National Chairman of the UPP. Following the sad end of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) saga, Chief Okorie and his committed associates proceeded to float the United Peoples Grand Alliance (UPGA). But it was not registered. He and his associates refused to consider the option of challenging the action of the INEC not to register UPGA in court but opted to re- apply to the commission with the name of United Progressive Party with the tiger head as its symbol. So, the UPP was registered on October 2, 2012. He believes that the UPP has massive support of the Igbo. MR. ALLAGOA KELVIN CHINEDU, PPN: The PPN presidential candidate, who has been a businessman, hailed from Aba, Abia state. Chinedu, who was born in the year 1968, presently lives in Mingi XI Palace, Tombi in Nember city of Bayelsa. He attended Port Harcourt Primary school from 1971 to 1977 and then proceeded to Secondary School, where he obtained his Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) in 1991. He went to University of Port Harcourt between 1996 and 2001. AMBROSE ALBERT NDUWE OWURU (HDP): Owuru, a 53-year-old legal practitioner, was born in Orije in the Port Harcourt city of Rivers state. He attended State School, Orogbum primary school in Port Harcourt. Owuru then proceeded to Country Grammar School, Ikwerre/Ekhe. He attended University of Buckingham in England and also enrolled in University of London in 1984. The HDP presidential hopeful, in his affidavit to INEC, said he also attended the Nigerian Law School upon his return from England. He worked with Soton Denton from 1986 to 1987, and then joined A. A. Owunu and Co. from 1987 to date. DR IBRAHIM AHMAD MANI, ADC: The ADC presidential candidate was born in 1968 in Bida, Niger State. He has been an academic as well as an administrator. He attended RCM Primary School, Kuru in Jos from 1974 to 1980, before proceeding to Government Secondary School, Kuru from 1980 to 1985. He enrolled into Niger State College of Education, Minna in 1985 to 1988, where he got his National Certificate of Education (NCE). He obtained his first degree at the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) in 1994. In 2006, he obtained his Masters degree on Technology from the Federal University of Technology, Minna. He finished his third degree from the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna in 2014. He worked with the Niger State government for a decade (1990 to 2000) before he retired. Dr Mani then joined the Nigerian Turkish University from 2008 to 2011. He left the university after his voluntary resignation. In 2011, the presidential candidate joined Baze University, Abuja up to 2014, when he was given a leave of absence. He has been a member of various clubs, associations and organisations that include the Red Cross Society of Nigeria, Nigerian Institute of Management as well as the Nigerian Conservative Society. MR RAFI’U SALAU, AD: Mr Salau, who was born in 1956 in Offa, now lives in Abuja. The 58-year-old has been a business executive in his lifetime. He went to Baptist Day School, Kigo road of Kaduna state from 1965 to 1970. MR GODSON MGBODILE OHAENYEM OKOYE, UDP: Mr Okoye, who was born in 1963 in the city of Port Harcourt in Rivers state, is a legal practitioner, who now lives in Aguata Local Government of Anambra state. He attended St. Peters Primary School in Eziagu village, Agulueze Chukwu, Aguata local government of Anambra. He also attended Rumola/Rumadolu primary school, Port Harcourt in Rivers state. The University of Lagos offered him admission to read LLB (Hons) from 1984 to 1987. Upon completion, the presidential candidate went to the Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos from 1987 to 1988. He worked with law firm and later established his own. But he left in 2002 due to a political appointment. Okoye worked in the senate president’s office from 2002 to 2004. But he returned to Nnoli & Okoye chamber. ALHAJI GANIYU GALADIMA OSENI, ACPN: Oseni was born in 1964 in Ijebu Ode of Ogun State. He has been a businessman and a politician. Oseni attended Muslim Primary School, Imepe in Ijebu Ode from 1973 to 1978, afterwhich he moved to United Primary School, Ilorin in Kwara state. He then proceeded to Cherubim & Seraphim College for his secondary school, Ilorin in 1980. He attended Kwara State College of Technology, Ilorin in 1987 and then moved to Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin in 1995, and in 2003 obtained his PGD from the same school. In his affidavit, Oseni, who is also the National Chairman of his party, indicated that he has been a self-employed man until he became the National Secretary of ACPN between 2010 and 2014. CHIEF MARTIN ONOVO, NCP: Chief Onovo, a politician cum oil expert, was born in 1969 in Owerri, the capital of Imo state. He attended Ekulu Primary School in Enugu, before he moved to National Grammar School, Nike also in Enugu state. After getting admission at University of Ibadan, he obtained B Sc (Hons) in Petroleum Engineering in the year 1991. He also studied his M Sc in Petroleum Engineering at Houston, the United States of America (USA) in the year 1994. He worked with Shell Petroleum Development from 1992 to 1993 before he left to pursue higher education in the USA. He has been a member of the Institute of Transport Administration, Nigerian Society of Engineers as well as Emupo Development Union. |
