The open forum on Agricultural Biotechnology in Africa (OFAB) is an awareness creation forum on biotechnology and biosafety.it was founded in 2006 by the African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF).OFAB has eight different chapters in Africa: Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Burkina Faso , Zimbabwe. OFAB Nigeria has its office located at the National Biotechnology Development Agency, Lugbe, Abuja.it has recorded alot of impact in the area of agricultural biotechnology by reaching out to farmers , biotechnology stake holders, media , legislative and the public at large. @ Chanteh This Forum creates awareness on the benefits of Biotechnology in Nigeria. A lot of Nigerians are misinformed or not aware of how we can channel our revenue source to agric and not only oil. To Answer your question, Nigerians institutions like the institute of Agricultural research Zaria are already having confined field trials. Our scientist know the basis and our labs are already equipped. what we need now is the passage of the Biosafety law to regulate biotech practise and to enable our scientists to leave the confined sites and commercialize biotech. OFAB is on a serious quest for the passage of the biosafety law by Mr. President. We have gone to seek for collaboration in media houses to lend their voice to ours for the bill to be passed
